I've known Veronica for 18 years and Blake for almost 6 years, yet I know just as much about Blake as I do Veronica, which is basically everything.
Blake never showed anyone his weaknesses because no one outside of his friend group got to witness the relationship he has with his family.
Ever since I met Blake he's always been the strong, fearless and protective one. Despite him being younger than both River and I, he was always the one to make us feel safer. He was always the one to protect us even though we could hold our end in a fight.
Which is why I was never against the idea of Blake and Veronica getting close. In fact, I would always suggest she talked to him.
Veronica has been through hell, they both have, and despite what anyone thinks, what happened in their past didn't make them who they are today. No, they made each other who they are today. Sure, their past made them connect on a deeper level, but it also made them pretend to be someone they weren't.
There was no way to know that Veronica and Blake being together, or even just knowing each other, could help them because the person Ronnie became was everything Blake grew to hate in someone just like the person Blake became was everything Ronnie hated in a person.
I would know, she voiced her hatred for my friends a lot.
If I had known my friends would find happiness with each other then I would have made a plan to get them together a long time ago.
Then again, I didn't think any of us would settle down before college. River, Blake, Zayn and I always spoke about how we couldn't wait for college because of the girls. Blake didn't really have to wait for college to get with a college girl. In fact, out of the four of us, he was the first one to sleep with a college girl, and that was in our sophomore year.
The sound of the doorbell ringing rang throughout the house, causing me to jump a little. Instead of sitting in the den, we all decided to sit in the living room and watch Avengers: End Game. I was a little too engrossed in the movie even though I've watched it over a hundred times.
I jump up from the couch and slide my sock covered feet on the hardwood floor to the door. When I open it, I'm greeted by Lucas and his wife.
"Luke, Lila, hey. Come in." I greet, opening the door wider and stepping aside so the two can enter.
"Sup, bro. Where's my son?" Lucas greets, scanning the room impatiently. Oh yeah, this is their first weekend without their son.
"I'm actually not sure." I say, tilting my head to the side. I nearly burst out laughing at Lucas and Lila's facial expressions. "Last I saw him, he was with Blake." I shrug and Lucas glares at me
"Matt." Luke warns and I laugh.
"I'm kidding. Your son is upstairs with Ronnie and Blake. Ronnie wasn't feeling well so Blake told her to go take a nap while he sat with baby. Half an hour ago, he disappeared to the room and hasn't come back down since." I shrug and both parents sigh in relief, causing me to laugh.
I'm about to lead the two upstairs to Ronnie's room when Lucas suddenly stops me.
"Wait." He calls, causing me to halt my steps and turn to face him again.
I raise a brow, edging him to continue. "This Blake kid, how is he?" He asks.
"He's good for her. He hasn't had the best past either so he understands her. They're actually good for each other and balance each other out. He doesn't just respect her, but he treats this family as his own. Plus, he's one of my best friends." I assure the guy and he nods, looking relieved to hear that.
