I am so in shock that I don't even notice the whole room falling silent the second those words leave my lips.
It's like my brain just can't process it. I am having trouble believing it.
Forty five months and he finally woke up. He's actually awake.
"Blake! That's amazing! What are you still doing here?" Veronica exclaims, the happiness and excitement clear in her voice.
"My dad just woke up." I repeat, the news finally settling in. Veronica's already wide smile only gets wider as my lips tug up into a smile of my own.
Fuck! Everyday I wished he would wake up, and he actually did. God, I promise I'll start going to church from now on. I'm fucking donating money to charity, feeding the homeless, hell I'll even save stray dogs from today onwards!
And I thought this day couldn't get any better.
"Go get your mom and go to the hospital. I'll stay home with Emily and Cole." Veronica says and fear and panic replaces my happiness in a split second.
"What? No! Firefly please, you have to come with me. Please?" I frown, literally begging right now.
So much can go wrong. What if he doesn't even remember us? I don't think I'd be able to handle that. Fuck that would break me more than mine and Veronica's break up did. My dad's my fucking hero there is no way I can lose him just as I get him back!
No. Fucking. Way.
"Are you sure?" Veronica asks hesitantly and I immediately nod, not trusting myself to actually speak.
"What are you talking about? We're all going! Dude, you just got the best birthday gift ever! Let's go!" Zayn shouts, reminding me of their presence.
Everyone goes and gets dressed again before we're all on the road and driving to my house. Veronica didn't trust me to drive so she sits behind the wheel while I sit in the passenger seat, my mind repeating those five words Kim told me over the phone.
Your father just woke up.
When we pull in my driveway, Veronica and I enter the house to find Cole and Emily sitting on the couch watching The Lion King while mom is on the phone and judging from mom's shocked expression, she's receiving the same news I did just minutes ago.
My mom would have originally found out before me, but after Kim and I slept together, she's been trying to get me to actually date her. She used to come off strong, almost as strong as Serena, but after a while, a very long while might I add, she finally backed off a tad bit. She assumed it was because I was more worried about my dad that I didn't want to get in a relationship at the time.
Now that my dad is finally awake, I know she made sure she could be the one to deliver the news which is the only reason why I found out before my mom did.
Veronica tells me she's just gonna go chance real quick before jogging up the stairs just as mom hangs up the phone. Slowly, mom turns to face me, her hands over her mouth and her eyes wide as the tears stream down her cheeks.
"Blake." Mom says, her voice so soft, shocked.
I cross the room in three long, quick strides and engulf mom in a tight hug as I bury my face in the crook of her neck, my own tears escaping.
"He's awake, ma." I whisper in her neck and her arms come around my waist. "He's finally awake." Pulling back from the hug, I place my hands on her cheeks and wipe the tears with the pads of my thumbs as I smile down at her with my own tears still coming down my cheeks. "He came back to us." I smile.
