Chapter 43: The Truth

Tessa is a huge pain in the fucking ass!

It hasn't even been a week since she's arrived and the bitch has already managed to piss us off more times than I can count and Veronica is the one suffering more than the rest of us. Not only does she share three classes with Tessa, but she also has to suffer after school during practice.

Soccer used to be one out of two things that helped Veronica. It was her escape, her safe place.

Until Tessa came along.

Not only is Tessa now friends with Serena, Scarlett and Stella, but she's also after Veronica's position as soccer captain. I've watched Veronica force herself to deal with Tessa on the field, but even I can see Veronica reaching her limits.

Hell, if it were me, I would have snapped long time.

And like I said, it hasn't even been a week yet.

Currently on the field after school, practicing with the rest of my teammates, I hear a commotion coming from where the girls are practicing. Stopping with the ball at my feet, I turn just in time to see Veronica shoving Tessa off of her, her expression hard with anger.

"What the hell is your damn problem?!" Veronica snaps, her fists clenching at her sides.

The rest of my teammates all come to a standstill beside me as we all watch the drama that's unfolding. Even though it's unlikely, I was hoping Veronica would just deck Tessa right in the face. Maybe that would teach her a lesson and cause her to back off.

Tessa smirks as she folds her arms across her chest. "I'm just trying to get the ball." She says, raising her hands in surrender.

"The last time I checked, we were playing soccer! Not 'See how much bruises I can give Veronica!'" She growls, taking a threatening step towards Tessa so that she's standing right in front of her. "If you can't respect me as your captain, then leave." Veronica warns, her voice so low yet so dangerous and fuck, she sounds hot.

I hear one of the boys let out a low whistle beside me. "Little Stone has always been hot, but holy fuck! This is-" Owen starts but gets cut off with a slap to his head from Zayn, a punch to the arm from Matt and a glare from me.

"Watch it." Matt, Zayn, River and I all warn simultaneously and his eyes widen.

Turning back to the girls, I notice coach Evans joining them, sporting an annoyed look.

"What is going on here?"

"I think our captain is on her period. She seems to be a little more bitchier than usual." Tessa says, turning to coach Evans and rolling her eyes.

"Tessa has been giving Veronica a hard time. Forever trying to hurt her when Veronica's done nothing but be patient with her. With her on our team, I don't see us winning at all, coach. Not even with Veronica here to assist." Karen speaks up, defending her captain and a smile tugs at the corners of my lips.

Veronica gives Karen an appreciative smile before her attention is directed to Tessa.

"Hey, it's not my fault you guys suck. Then again, considering who the captain is, I can see why." Tessa says smugly and Tanya barks out a laugh.

"Really? We suck? If I remember correctly, we kicked your ass last time we played. What was the score again?" Tanya asks, glancing around at her team with furrowed brows before looking back at Tessa.  "9-3 correct? And Veronica scored 4 of those goals. Tell me, how much did you score?" Tanya smirks and Tessa glares at her.

Yeah, Tessa only managed to score one goal that day so she's in no position to insult our girls.

"You want my position that badly?" Veronica asks and Tessa shrugs. "Then take it. Lets see how you lead this team to a future of failure!" Veronica says and we all gasp in surprise. Is she seriously giving up? Veronica turns to a wide eyed coach Evans. "I'm sorry, but I tried. I really did, but I just can't anymore and it hasn't even been a week. She wants to be captain, then she can have the damn spot, but as long as she's on this team then I want nothing to do with it. I refuse to put up with her childishness any longer." Veronica says, walking off the field.
