6 weeks.

That’s how long it'll take for her knee to heal and for her to get back on the field.

At the hospital, the doctor informed us that Veronica's knee is dislocated. When he popped her knee back into place, I swear I felt my heart physically break at the loud cry of pain that erupted from the back of Veronica's throat, tears streaming down her face.

Both the doctor and I were shocked when she screamed in pain. He had given her something to help with the pain, but apparently it did nothing to help her. She still felt everything. After he popped the knee back in, he had to do x-Rays to check if the bones are all in their correct positions and nothing was damaged.

Luckily, surgery wasn't needed.

When the doctor informed us of the recovery period, I swear my girlfriend looked as if someone told her she could never drive or play soccer ever again. She looked heartbroken and even begged the doctor to help her knee recover faster. She looked so small and it hurt me seeing her in that situation.

Soccer is her life and Tessa just took that away from her even if it's just for 6 weeks.

Turns out, the reason why Tessa was even still on the team is because her rich daddy was literally paying coach Evans to keep his daughter on the team. He was fucking paying the coach 250k. Like what the fuck?

I guess he knew how much his daughter sucked so he decided to pay to keep her on the team. Is that what he did at her pervious school too?

Anyway, after coach Evans realized his star player couldn't walk, he kicked Tessa off the team and told her that her father can keep his money. When Mason and I found out her father was paying their coach to keep her on the team, we were both livid. I don't know who we wanted to kill more. Tessa for hurting Veronica or coach Evans for allowing this to go on for so long when all could be prevented.

When we get home, I scoop Veronica into my arms and carry her into the house. Mom is sitting on the couch in the living room, watching some movie on Netflix and when she hears us entering, her head snaps in our direction with a smile.

That smile is quickly replaced with a frown when she sees Veronica in my arms with her face buried in the crook of my neck and a brace over her knee. Mom jumps up from the couch and rush over to us.

"What happened?" Mom asks, looking at Veronica with concern in her eyes.

"Tessa dislocated Firefly's knee." I grit out and mom's expression darkens. "Six week recovery." I sigh and mom winces, knowing exactly how it'll affect Firefly.

Mom nods at Veronica, silently asking how she is and I shake my head with a frown.

"I'm going to run her a bath." I inform mom and she nods. Mom runs her fingers through Veronica's hair, a frown on her face before pressing a gentle kiss to her head.

The action melts my heart.

When I get to my room, I run her a warm bath before helping her to the bathroom and while she's in the bath, I grab a random blue t-shirt and her shorts that she's left here and place it on the bed before leaving the room and going downstairs to the kitchen to make the two of us hot chocolate.

Mom and Emily both weren't feeling well which is why mom never made it to Veronica's game and when I pass her room, I find both mom and Emily curled up in mom's bed, the two fast asleep.

As soon as I reach the kitchen I pull out my phone from my jeans pocket and phone Mason.

While waiting for the phone to ring, I lean my back against the fridge. Veronica had left her phone in her bag and her bag was left at the game which her brother ended up taking home so she couldn't inform him of what's happening. Besides, I don't think she's really in the mood to talk to anyone.
