It's been 11 days since we broke up, yet it feels like 11 months, and 4 days since I last held her in my arms.

The events of Saturday night put us all on edge. To think she almost got caught and I wasn't there to keep her safe like I promised myself and her parents.

I know she had her brother and the rest of our friends there with her, but that didn't stop me from thinking about all the 'what ifs'.

On Sunday afternoon, Mason came around, wanting to talk to me. I was almost certain the guy came over to kick my ass but damn was I surprised by the time he left.

***FLASHBACK***

The sound of the doorbell drew my attention away from the study notes I had spread out in front of me. Cole isn't here today and none of my friends actually use the doorbell, so I was a little confused by who's at the door, but before I actually had the time to think about possible visitors, there's a knock on my door.

"Uh, come in?" I call, my brows raised in confusion.

To my surprise, when the door opens, Mason steps into my room and closes the door behind him before turning to me. He takes one look at the notes spread out on my bed and shakes his head in disappointment.

"Wow. Looks like you two really are similar." He sighs, shaking his head. Mason walks over to my bed and sits down, making himself comfortable before turning to me. "Have a minute to talk?" He asks, no sign of the cool brother I was so used to seeing which only makes me nervous.

"Sure. What's going on?" I ask, clearing my bed from all the notes and putting it on my desk, my movements stiff.

"Would you relax? I'm here to check how you're holding up." He says, taking me aback.

"Why? Shouldn't you hate me and want to kill me?" I ask, raising a questioning brow at him.

"I did." He nods and I gulp. "I mean of course I would. My sister comes home one day from school, changes before disappearing for four and a half hours only to come home, crying her eyes out and not wanting to eat dinner. And when I ask her what's wrong she just tells me the two of you broke up because 'things just weren't working out anymore' when not even 24 hours earlier the two of you couldn't keep your hands off each other." He says, and I gulp.

I always knew I would end up getting my ass handed to me by this guy. I also expected Matt, Jason and Jake to be standing in a line, waiting for their turn.

"But then Saturday night you came rushing over to Kate's house, demanding if we've heard anything from Speedy yet. You looked like you would turn the world upside down to find her. That night, I realized that Speedy lied to me. That something happened between the two of you but she just didn't want to speak about it. So, I asked Andrea and River." He pauses and I hold my breath, my heart beat speeding up.

"River explained, but before I move on, I want to hear the truth. From you." He says sternly and I sigh, nodding.

Taking in a deep breath, I tell him everything. I have nothing to hide so I tell him about taking Tessa home that night too and to my surprise, he doesn't get angry. His breathing is calm, eyes calm, expression calm as he listens.

I was so sure him hearing about me taking Tessa home on Saturday would cause him to punch me, but nothing happened. When I finish, he nods his head once.

"I'm going to ask you something and I want you to be honest with me. Okay?" He asks and I nod. "Do you have any feelings left for Tessa? Anything?" He asks.
