The next morning I wake up to the sound of Veronica groaning before raising my arm off of her and rolling onto her back.

Rubbing the sleep from my eyes, I have to blink a few times to adjust my eyes to the bright sunlight shinning in my room.

"Morning, Firefly." I murmur, rolling onto my side to face her.

Veronica grunts in response.

"You okay there?" I frown, propping myself onto my elbow.

"My body hurts." She cried out, turning her head in my direction with a pout. I wince, remembering how exhausted she was yesterday.

Definitely no gym session today.

Shifting closer to her, I gently pull her into my arms. "Want me to run you a bath? I can give you a massage after? I think my mom has some bath oils or whatever she usually uses in her bathroom?" I ask, pressing a kiss to her temple.

Veronica lets out a long sigh as she turns in my arms so that she's facing me and wraps her arms around my waist, burying her face in my chest. She's quiet for a long moment that I thought she fell asleep again until she shakes her head.

"It's okay." She mutters lowly. Just then, both our stomachs growl loudly and we both freeze. Veronica pulld back, her eyes wide and her cheeks turning a dark shade of red. I can't help but laugh.

"I'll go get us something to eat. You can wait here, I'll let mom know your body is broken and that you say morning." I chuckle. Pressing a kiss to her forehead, I climb out of bed and make my way downstairs to the kitchen where I find mom, Cole and Emily all making breakfast together.

"Good morning, honey." Mom greets, a bright smile on her face. At the sound of mom greeting me, Cole and Emily both snap their heads in my direction, white powder covering parts of their faces but both wearing wide smiles.

"Morning." I chuckle, pressing a kiss to mom's cheek before walking over to the two toddlers standing by the counter. Cole stands over a bowl, whisking eggs while Emily stands over a bowl with pancake batter in.

"Morning, butt heads." I grins, earning a slap to the arm from Emily. "You making us breakfast?" I ask, kissing Emily on the top of her head before kissing Cole's. Both toddlers nod excitedly. "Great, can't wait to taste it."

"Are you hungry? You were both fast asleep when we got home last night?" Mom asks from the stove, turning to look at me from over her shoulder.

"Yeah, Firefly had a hectic practice yesterday and could barely even walk up the stairs. She's awake but her body is sore from yesterday. She says morning, though."

"I got Chinese last night if that's okay?" Mom asks and I nod. "Good, there's leftovers in the oven. Just heat it up and you're good to go."

Veronica and I sit in silence as we eat, both of us seeming to be lost in our own thoughts. I know we still have to have a conversation about what happened two days ago, but I'm scared.

I'm scared because it seems like she is trying to move on from it and things between us are back to normal again, but for how long? I know I need to bring it up or that doubt will always be there and she will always have that question bothering her.

I really don't want to, but I know we won't be able to really move on from it unless we speak about it. So with that thought in mind, I take in a deep breath and force my mouth to utter the words needed.

"I'm sorry." I blurt.

Veronica's hand twirling food around her fork freezes and when she finally looks up at me, her brows are drawn in confusion but the look in her eyes tells me she knows exactly why I am apologizing.
