I'm woken up by movement, but refuse to open my eyes. I'm enjoying my dream, but the person next to me won't stop moving.
I feel the covers being lifted up so fast it sends a wave of wind smacking my bare chest and face, before she sighs out in relief.
"Nothing happened." She sighs, and I can't help but smirk.
"Yet." I say, my voice deep and raspy from sleep. Veronica lets out a surprised squeak causing me to chuckle, my eyes still closed. "Good morning, Firefly." I smile, opening one eye.
Veronica props herself up on one elbow and smiles down at me. Even though she didn't even move a muscle in her sleep, her hair is still a mess. She runs her fingers through my hair causing me to shut my eyes with a satisfied smile.
I could get used to waking up this way.
"Morning." She greets, kissing my cheek.
Opening my eyes, I pout childishly up at her. "Just the cheek?" I ask and she chuckles.
"I haven't brushed my teeth yet." She says and I raise a brow at her. Veronica starts wiggling herself out of my arms so I tighten my arms around her waist and bury my face in the crook of her neck.
"No." I whine and she laughs.
"I need to wee." She whines and I remove my face from her neck and look up at her.
"Promise you'll come back to bed?" I ask, throwing in my best puppy dog eyes. She leans down and presses a kiss to the tip of my nose before nodding, a smile on her face.
As soon as I release her, she jumps out of bed and hops into my bathroom before closing the door behind her. Sighing, I decide to get out of bed so that I can brush my teeth when she's done. It's still very early, so there's no way I'm leaving my room just yet.
The bathroom door opens and Veronica comes out, my t-shirt so big for her that it hangs off her right shoulder, exposing her sports bra strap.
"I have a spare toothbrush in my bathroom." I say, walking towards the bathroom and she follows behind me.
Veronica stands beside me, the two of us both brushing our teeth and my free hand in the small back pocket on her shorts. It's so small that it barely even fits my four fingers but I don't remove it.
As soon as she's done rinsing out her mouth and wiping it with a towel, I scoop her up into my arms and run back to bed, tossing her onto the bed. She laughs as she crawls back into bed and I follow. Once we're both back under the covers, I open my arms for her and she moves into my embrace, burying her face in my chest.
Just as she looks up at me I press my lips against hers, feeling her smiling against my lips.
"Good morning, beautiful." I whisper against her lips and feel her biting down on her bottom lip.
"Morning. Again." She whispers back, a wide smile on her face.
"I could get used to this." I say, resting my forehead against hers and she shoves my chest.
"Don't." She rolls her eyes and I bark out a laugh. The two of us spend a few more hours in bed, wrapped up in each other's arms and just talking. This is probably the first time I've woken up earlier than normal and not because of nightmares.
Usually when I wake up, I immediately get out of bed and get ready for the day, but if I'm woken up by my stupid nightmares, then I would either just lay in bed and just stare at the ceiling, dreading the day ahead or I would hit the gym downstairs.
Today though I didn't want to get out of bed, and not because I was dreading the day, but because of the girl beside me. I am completely happy with just being in bed, holding her, but knowing this girl and her love for food, that would be impossible.
