The days following my birthday were pretty much uneventful, well except for the Saturday, the day after my birthday.

On Saturday, Veronica gave me my birthday gifts, and other than my dad waking up, it was the best gifts I had ever received.

Veronica didn't go all out with the gifts. They were pretty simple yet so thoughtful. The first gift she got me was a pair of sneakers I've been wanting for a while but was always sold out.

The second gift was by far my favorite. It was a large photo album with years worth of memories all put together with little notes with each picture.

The very first picture was a picture of me the day I was born. Mom was sitting on the hospital bed with me in her arms while dad sat beside her with his arms wrapped around both mom and I, both of them staring down at a baby me.

The note with that picture read: "19 years ago today life changed. To the world you may be one person but to me you are the world."

The following pictures were of me growing up. There was even a picture of a naked five year old me in the bath tub with my bath toys floating around me and my black hair wet and spiked up. There was a picture of me holding Emily on the day she was born and a few more of us growing up.

Then there were pictures of my friends and I in school, at home, on the soccer field, and of us on the little vacation trips our families used to take.

The last few pictures were recent ones. Ones of Veronica and I on our first date, of our whole group together and of the Wilder family and the Stone family all together.

Like I said, it was a simple gift, but it's the personal notes that came with each picture that made it all the more meaningful.

Later that day, Veronica had a soccer game and played against Greenburg High, and even more scouts came out to watch my girl. Veronica was on top of her game. She gave her teammates so much opportunities to score and even scored a few of her own.

Our girls were all on top of their game that day and we ended up winning a perfect 9 - 2. Four of those goals were scored by my girl.

The game was clean, well as clean as it could get with every one of Veronica's opponents feeling threatened by her. One of the Greenburg players actually had to be removed from the field because when Veronica intercepted the ball, this girl decided to throw fists. Thank the Lord Veronica has some speedy reflexes because damn.

Veronica didn't fight back, for obvious reasons, so she just kept dodging until someone came and took the lunatic off the field, but not without her yelling out a very colorful vocabulary at a very amused looking Veronica.

The first half of our day was great. It wasn't until I took Veronica and the two toddlers out for lunch to celebrate Veronica's win that everything started going to shit.

We were at McDonalds. While I stood in line to order our food, Veronica went and got us a table while Cole and Emily went to play in the play area. Veronica was sitting alone when an elderly couple approached her, thinking she was Victoria.

I wasn't with her when it happened but I could practically feel how tense her body was all the way from where I stood and when I looked at her, she looked beyond uncomfortable. So after putting in our order, I rushed over to her. When I introduced myself to the couple, I then learnt exactly who they were. Henry's parents.

I couldn't blame them for the way Henry treated Veronica especially since they didn't even know Victoria had a twin sister. They weren't even aware of Veronica's existence and that fucking pissed me off. I think what got to Veronica the most was when she learnt that Mason has met Henry's parents and actually visited them for a while.
