Friday afternoon. My phone was sitting up on my dresser as I recorded myself dancing to Kiana Lede's Can I on Snapchat while flaunting my corrected and straightened teeth. My braces were finally off after wearing them my entire high school year. I was happy, my mouth felt free. No more dealing with tightenings or cheeks being scraped with the wires. I had on a ribbed zip-front bandeau top and distressed mom jeans with black ankle socks.

And I'm like, "Woo"
Lost in lust and feeling lonely. .

"What are you doing weirdo?"

I looked over to Jasmine standing at my opened bedroom door, wearing a striped California tee, and gray joggers with high fuzzy socks. She let her hair hang down passed her collarbone. Grabbing my phone, I stopped the video, saving it before exiting out of the app.

"Just enjoying my beautiful teeth," my tongue went over my teeth.

"You're a freak," she chuckled and sat down on my bed. "Where you going?"

"With Sharif, even though I'm still tired from work."

"You bringing me some food back?" Jasmine grinned in hope.

"Yeah, if I come back," I slipped my sock covered feet into the almond contrast knee high boots.

"Wish I had a boyfriend so I can leave this stupid house."

"You're ten–"

"Eleven next month."

"Still, you're ten. Don't worry about a boyfriend. Stay pure."

"Are you pure?" She asked. I looked downward, zipping my boot.

"Uh. . ." I raised up, "not exactly. ."

"So, you're having sex?"

"Okayyy, why don't you go get a fruit snack or something?"

She chuckled, "seriously, Aalea. I'm not a little kid anymore that doesn't understand. As disgusting as it is, I hear mom and her boyfriend all the time. Be glad your room isn't beside hers." She shivered in disgust.
