Pax
I woke up and looked around, noticing the hospital room. I went to raise my arm with something preventing me, then I saw it, restraints. What the hell?
"I see that you're awake. How was your nap?" Someone asked.
I looked to see Larkin sitting in a chair next to the bed.
"I don't call stuck in a hospital bed with restraints enjoying a nap," I replied.
Larkin stood up and put her hands on the rail of the hospital bed.
"Why am I here?" I questioned.
"Because you need help. You have PTSD from when those people attacked you," Larkin told me.
I looked at her strangely.
"Pax, Markus called me and explained what happened. Have you been sleeping?" Larkin asked me.
"Sleep is so overrated," I told Larkin.
"A lack of sleep can affect you in several ways. When you don't sleep, it affects your life, especially your emotions. I know I went through it after what Roger did to me," Larkin admitted.
I didn't know what to say. With everything that happened, I felt my life spiraling out of control every day.
"How long have I been here?" I asked.
"Three days," Larkin answered.
"And my family? Did they visit me?" I questioned.
Larkin gave me a soft smile. "Yes, but I wanted to talk to you when you woke up and explain things," Larkin said.
I looked at her as a tear fell down my cheek. I looked to see Pops standing in the doorway as he walked into the room and over to the hospital bed.
"I'm sorry, Pops," I said with my voice breaking.
"Pax, it's okay, but you need help. When Payton called us, it was the worst feeling in the world to know your child's hurt. Your ma and I were going out of our minds, knowing something happened to you," Pop told me.
All I could do at that moment is cry. I finally broke and felt out of control. Pops comforted me as I cried. People don't understand how events can make your life spiral. You can't tell anyone because they won't listen. Trust me, I tried with my family, but they missed all the signs.
Ma came in to see me, and that made me cry more. Larkin took off the restraints so that I could hug my ma. They put on the restrictions so that I wouldn't hurt myself or others when I woke up.
After calming down, the rest of my family came into the room. I sat there, feeling drained.
"Lark, what happens now?" Pops asked Larkin.
Before Larkin answered, someone else answered for her. "Pax will stay here for a few weeks for therapy, and we will monitor his sleep," someone said.
"Who are you?" Pops asked.
"Dr. Jordan ShawJr., I will be Pax's Doctor," Dr. Shaw said.
"Are you related to Jordan Shaw?" Pops asked.
"Jordan is my dad, and my daughters attend school, who is Jesse and Skylar," Dr. Shaw explained. "Dad contacted me and explained about Paxton. He's busy with the foundation and asked me to help."
"Will Pax be okay?" Ma asked with concern.
"Pax will be fine, but he needs help. It sounds like the lack of sleep is affecting him. We will monitor Paxton's progress, and when he's better, will release him," Dr. Shaw explained.
