I know it's a hit or miss with Pax and me, but I'm serious about us. I missed Pax a lot, even when I was with Travis. Pax and I talked for hours about everything, and I didn't feel stupid about my ideas.

Since Pax has a gluten allergy, I contacted his dad about recipes. Pax's dad sent me quite a few items. I went shopping and picked up things. I cooked dinner for Pax and figured we would watch a movie at my place. I enlisted his brothers to help me.

Parker makes sure Pax arrives, and Payton helps me with the cooking and baking. Payton met me at my apartment after I finished at the grocery store. We went up to my apartment, and I set the bags on the kitchen table.

"So, is everything set?" I asked Payton.

"Yeah, you relax. Parker will do his part. It's a good thing I'm helping you cook and not Parker. Our brother burns water," Payton mentioned.

I looked at Payton strangely.

"Parker can't cook," Payton told me.

"Well, I called your dad, and he explained what to buy. I didn't realize how much food has gluten in it," I told Payton.

"Yeah, it was bad before our parents found out about Pax's food allergy. Most people think nothing of eating food, but Pax was sick a lot. He was miserable and lost weight," Payton explained.

"I remember when we dated in high school, Pax told me about his food allergy. I checked about gluten before getting Pax food," I told Payton, who looked at me.

"Most people couldn't care less about Pax and not bother, but you genuinely care about him," Payton mentioned.

"Because Pax is special to me. Pax didn't make fun of me when I told him I want to be a pastry chef. Travis told me it was a stupid occupation and made me a pussy," I said.

Payton furrowed his eyebrows.

"I remember when I didn't make Travis's favorite dish. He threw the plate of food at me, then told me to clean it up. Afterward, Travis assaulted me," I whispered, embarrassed about the abuse.

"Shaun, Travis is an asshole and doesn't deserve your attention. Pax might have a temper, but he would never hurt you," Payton reassured me as I nodded.

We got to work, cooking and baking, preparing dinner for this evening. God, I hope Pax enjoys it.

I worked at the bakery, waiting on customers as Britt helped me. Shaun said he has plans this evening, which bummed me out. While I was busy at the bakery, I didn't know a few people were conspiring.

Parker showed up while I was busy and gestured to Britt, who nodded. She signals at Nik, who nodded. I brought the order to the countertop and rang up the customer. After the customer left, Parker whistled using his thumb and finger.

I looked up, and Pat and Kaxon came out from the back, ushering me away from the counter.

"What are you, tools, doing?" I yelled.

"Helping you," Pat answered.

"My shift isn't over," I told Pat.

"It is now," Kaxon said. Pax and Kaxon shoved me to Parker as I stumbled forward. Parker caught me and dragged me out of the bakery. I looked at Pat and Kaxon, who waved and smiled.

"You'll get me fired," I told Parker.

"Oh, well, then you find another job," Parker said, dragging me away from the bakery.
