The new semester started, and I returned to classes. I had a lot of catches up to do because of what happened. I didn't mind. It was better than sitting around with my thumb up my ass. Yeah, work is okay, but when you can't go to any functions, it sucks ass.
On the plus side, I got to see Shaun more. If we weren't working, we studied together. Okay, that's a big fat lie. We made out a lot.
While Shaun and I couldn't keep our lips off each other, Matthew had issues of his own in the form of Nora. It seems my cousin attempted to keep Nora at arm's length. Nora tried not to stay there, while Mason is oblivious to it.
Matthew was with Payton at a coffeehouse when Nora made a beeline for Matthew.
"Hey, Matthew," Nora greeted Matthew.
"Hey, Nora," Matthew replied.
Payton stood there, watching the exchange unfold.
"So, I thought we could hang out," Nora suggested.
"I thought you have a boyfriend," Matthew responded.
Nora looked at Matthew and rolled her eyes.
"Why don't you go hang out with Mason?" Matthew suggested.
"Because I don't want to hang out with Mason," Nora replied.
Yep, Payton was still watching, trying to stifle his laughter.
"Then I suggest that you do," Matthew said.
"Matthew," Nora said as Mason walked into the coffeehouse. He made a beeline to Nora, wrapping his arm around her waist.
"Hey, babe," Mason greeted Nora, who looked like someone took her last cupcake.
"Hey," Nora replied.
"I thought we should hang out," Mason mentioned.
"I think that's a great idea. You two hang out, and we will leave," Matthew said, walking away with Payton following and laughing. Yeah, my brother has no shame.
"What was that?" Mason asked Nora.
"Nothing," Nora lied. Yeah, that chick is a big fat liar. She will cause more issues than needed between my cousins.
Matthew and Payton walked to the house and talked along the way.
"Okay, what was that?" Payton asked.
"That is a complication that I don't need in my life," Matthew answered, referring to Nora.
"You like this girl, don't you?" Payton asked.
Matthew gave Payton a look.
"Matt, it's been three years since Sadie," Payton mentioned.
"Yeah, well, it feels like it was yesterday for me. Look, I got to go," Matthew said, walking away.
"You're in denial!" Payton yelled.
Matthew flipped Payton off, who laughed. I told you my brother has no shame.
Matthew
What is with everyone? I don't need anyone in my life, and I sure in hell don't need a girl who's with my cousin. I got back to the house and got into my car. I pulled out of the driveway and drove until I made it to the cemetery, pulling up to Sadie's grave.
I got out of the car and walked to her gravesite. Looking at her headstone, I sighed. I crouched, brushing the leaves away from it. It might be three years for others, but it felt less for me. I missed Sadie. She was everything to me, and in a blink of an eye, she left.
