Pat

We returned to school, and let me tell you that it thrilled me. When you go to a funeral of someone you don't know, you get stuck talking to cousins you never met. Yeah, we have a massive family.

I came in and went up to my bedroom, setting my bag down, then unpacked my stuff. Pax tossed his bag into his room, along with Payton and Presley, who left to see their girls. Parker added to his mound of mess.

Pax walked into my bedroom.

"Why do we always get stuck around a family that we don't know?" Pax asked me.

"Beats the hell out of me. The entertainment was fun," I commented.

Pax laughed.

"I know if I ever get married or die, Uncle Nixon Can perform both ceremonies," I mentioned.

"The best part of the funeral," Pax smirked.

We heard the front door and footsteps, followed by someone dropping their books. I turned, and Britt charged me, tackling me to the ground.

"On that note, I'm leaving to see tall and sexy," Pax said, stepping over us and leaving the bedroom.

Britt crashed her lips into my lips and kissed me. I wrapped my arms around her and kissed her back. After a few minutes, we broke from our kiss.

"I see someone missed me," I mentioned.

"With every bullet," Britt retorted, smirking.

I chuckled, then got up from the floor and helped Britt up.

"How was the funeral?" Britt asked.

"Different, considering Uncle Nixon performed the funeral, and the family argued," I replied.

Britt looked at me curiously. "Isn't a funeral sorrowful?" Britt questioned.

"You would think, but not in my family," I answered.

Britt giggled as I chuckled. She walked over and picked up her books, then set them on the desk.

"I read your grandma's journals," Britt mentioned.

"Oh?" I asked.

"I laughed a lot, but your Grammy made sense," Britt told me.

"How so? Everyone said she was bat shit crazy," I mentioned.

"But she wasn't," Britt said, grabbing a book and opening it. "Listen to this," Britt mentioned, opening to a page.

Gray is a dumbass. We fought, and he went to the bar, getting drunk. I caught him with some floozy who thought she would take my man. I smacked him and told him like it was with us.

Why marry someone if you mess around on them? Drinking is an excuse for a weak person. Gray is weak. He allows the wrong people to lead him around by the nose. Now, he will learn and choose if he wants this marriage or not. I refuse to let someone hurt me because they are selfish and think with their manhood.

You can love a person and not like them much. It doesn't mean that it's wrong; it means you see their faults and imperfections, accepting that's who they are. I learned about Gray. One day, I hope he learns my love runs more profound than the ocean, or he will have a long, hard road ahead of him.

Britt finished reading as I looked at her. She flipped through a page and started reading another part.

Nathaniel comes home late every night. I know he's seeing some hussy. My boy has his head up his ass. I don't want a daughter-in-law who I can't stand. Since Gray couldn't give me a little girl, our boys are my last resort.
