Pax
I slept soundly. My phone buzzed insistently. I didn't know someone was calling as I slept. A few minutes later, I woke up and saw Shaun sleeping next to me on the couch. Our bodies tangle with each other.
Shaun woke up and rubbed his face.
                              "Morning," Shaun said.
"Morning," I said, not realizing what I said.
We looked at each other, then my eyes widened. I sat up quickly as Shaun did the same. I grabbed my phone to see several missed calls from everyone. Then we heard pounding on Shaun's apartment door.
We got up and ran to the door. Shaun opened it to find my brothers standing there looking piss.
"Oh, hey, guys," I said casually.
"Do you mind telling us why you didn't bother to come home last night?" Payton asked with his arms crossed.
                              "Well, I would, but I can't because I fell asleep," I responded.
"Do you know what this is?" Parker asked, holding up his cell phone. "It's called a phone. A guy named Alexander Graham Bell invented it to use."
"Yes, and it's a lovely function," I retorted.
                              I watched Parker's eye twitch.
"Did you get lucky, Pax?" Kaxon asked as we looked at him strangely. "What? It's an honest question," Kaxon told us.
"Boy, you need Jesus," Payton told Kaxon.
"Hey, I will have you know I get all the Jesus that I need, thanks to Grandpa," Kaxon retorted.
Someone moved Kaxon out of the way and separated Payton and Parker. We watched Matthew walk into the apartment and sit down in a chair, then he pulled out his phone and looked at it.
"What are you doing?" Parker asked.
"Looking through social media why you give your brother the third degree," Matthew told Parker.
"You're a big help," Parker grumbled.
"Well, nothing happened last light, and Pax is safe. Did it dawn on anyone that Pax came here for a date? If he didn't come home, then he was here. Or did this concept escape everyone?" Matthew asked my brothers and cousin.
Payton entered the apartment. "After what happened to Pax, we worry," Payton told Matthew.
"That's if Pax was in imminent danger, which he's not. If Shaun couldn't take on Travis, I doubt he would hurt Pax. No offense, Shaun," Matthew told Shaun.
"None took," Shaun said, looking at Matthew strangely.
"Look, I'm fine. We ate dinner, watched movies, and fell asleep on the couch. Nothing happened last night besides spending time together. We both agreed to take things slow," I said.
"You're a Gray. There's no Gray takes things slow with their significant other," Parker told me.
"Well, we do," I said, shrugging.
"Christ, you guys suck at this," Markus said, walking into the apartment.
"When did you get here?" Kaxon asked.
"Two minutes ago. I saw the search party and joined," Markus told Kaxon.
"Well, I came to keep Payton and Parker from pounding Pax into oblivion and keep Pax from killing Parker," Kaxon told Markus.
"You do know that Payton can wipe the floor with you?" Markus asked, arching an eyebrow.
"That thought didn't escape me," Kaxon said, raising a finger.
