Set after Infinity War. Short.

The room was full of people. Seven people, to be exact. But it didn't feel full to any of them. With three people missing, it didn't feel right.

Tony, Rhodey, Steve, Thor, Natasha, Bruce, Clint were all in the large room, scattered on the chairs and couches. All were quiet.

Tony glanced over to Vision's armchair, half expecting to see him. The android could usually be found sitting there, book in hand. It could be any book, really, from classics like Gone With the Wind, to teen romance like Saint Anything. Anything he could find on bookshelves, that he'd bought, or that he borrowed from the little witch.

Natasha found herself staring at the ping pong table. Once a week, Sam and Wanda would have rather intense table tennis matches that would go on for hours. Usually they started at 9am and continued on until one of them got a fifty points. Given how good they both were, games usually lasted at least two hours. Natasha was usually in charge of keeping score, given that she was the one who could pay attention long enough.

It was much too quiet. No one could bring themselves to talk.

"Why did it have to be Wednesday?" Rhodey asked quietly. Everyone had been thinking it, but they hadn't said anything.

Wednesday was the day Vizh would return from the book store with a bag of new books to read, usually in varying genres. That was they day Sam and Wanda would have their table tennis match. The room was much to quieter than it should have been. There were no pages being turned. No teasing or cursing as someone got a point, no pinging of the ball on the paddles and the table. Also no accusations from Sam about how Wanda must have cheated and used her powers to get the point- which she hadn't.

Rhodey could almost see Vision in the chair with a book. The one he had been reading was bookmarked on the coffee table beside the armchair. He could imagine Wanda and Sam bickering as they hit the ball back and forth. It was eerie. Very eerie.

"None of you are going to be able to focus, are you?" Bruce asked.

"Probably not, no," Tony replied.

"Yeah, it's kind of hard to focus when you keep expecting for three other people to be here, and then you remember that they're dead," Clint snarked. His family had all died too- which was terrible, obviously. He was also deeply missing Wanda. The young woman was like a fourth child to him, and everyone knew it. Like the rest of them were any better. If not their daughter, Wanda fit the roll of niece.

The silence continued.

"Well,"'Tony suddenly announced. "None of us are going to start talking. We'll try this again on Friday."

Everyone agreed, walking back to their rooms or to their houses. They should have known that Wednesday was a bad day for an Avengers meeting.
