'We all got nightmares in our dreams. We look for someone to believe in us and show us the way. And make it okay. The world can be dangerous.'

Wanda bolted awake. Her torso was heaving with her heavy breathing. Her chest ached worse than any pain that she had ever felt before. It felt like someone had ripped her heart out and crushed it in their hand.

Of course it did. She had lost Pietro. Her twin brother. Her other half. Half of her soul, half of her heart, half of her mind. The only one who kept her sane through the events of her life.

And now he was gone. Gone forever. She would never see him again, or hear his voice teasing her about her latest boyfriend or girlfriend. No one to keep her safe after the nightmares. All of that was gone forever. Her joy had died with her brother and her country five months ago.

She started to sob. It was just too much.

'There's something so rare in your veins. Not a single thing I would change. And oh, if you only knew how I see you, would you come alive again, alive again?'

Natasha was walking down the hallway when she heard crying in Wanda's room. She gently knocked on the door. "Maximoff? Are you ok in there?"

Sniffling. "Yeah."

Nat opened the door, walking into the room. "Hey, what's got you crying?"

"No reason."

"Crying is done for a reason. What's yours?"

"What do you think?" She sniffled.

Natasha sighed, taking a seat next to Wanda on the bed. "I know you miss your brother. I'm sorry, it must be hard to loose someone so close to you."

"We weren't just close. He was my other, arguably better half. He was my heart. And now I feel like there's just an empty space where my heart should be."

"I know the feeling, albeit for a different reason."

Wanda looked downwards. A choked sob made its way out of her mouth. "I just feel so awful."

"This isn't just about your brother, is it?"

Wanda shook her head, unable to speak.

Natasha wrapped her arms around the young brunette's shoulders in an awkward hug. "It's alright Wanda. Everyone makes mistakes. Everyone does bad things. If doesn't make you a bad person."

Red energy or magic- Nat wasn't sure what it was, exactly- flickered across Wanda's open palms.

"Wanda, your magic isn't evil. It's beautiful. You have the potential to do a lot of good with it. You really do. I wouldn't change a thing about you. As corny as it sounds, you're where you're meant to be. You have a purpose in life, just like everyone else. Even if you don't see it quite yet."

Wanda nodded.

"I'm leave you alone now." Natasha got up, shooting Wanda one last look before walking out the door.

'I, I need you to understand. I don't mind your shadows. Cuz they disappear in the light. I don't mind your shadows. Cuz they look a lot like mine. And listen to me, it's okay to be afraid. Just walk like you're never alone. I don't mind your shadows, your shadows. Baby, I don't.'

Natasha awoke with a jolt. She felt a comforting hand in her shoulder. "It's alright, Tasha," Wanda murmured. "It was a dream. You're safe."

"Did you... did you see it?"
