Wanda's 16

////////////////////////////////////

Wanda stepped out of the shower, her hair dripping- well, more like pouring water. She wrapped a towel around herself and quickly hurried into the room she was sharing with Lila Barton. She had forgotten to grab her clothes before her shower.

She was grateful to the Bartons for letting her stay with them after the Sokovia Accords drama. But she had to share a room with Lila since the guest rooms were taken by Sam, Steve, and Natasha. Wanda didn't mind that too much, except when it came to privacy. She didn't have much of that anymore. Wanda was hoping that Lila wouldn't be in the room, but as luck would have it, she was. Wanda quickly shut the door, feeling very self-conscious about being in nothing but a towel.

"Hi, Wanda!" The young girl said cheerfully.

"Hi, Lila." Wanda gathered her clothes- a black dress and underclothes- and headed to the door. She could her Sam and Scott talking on the other side of the door. Scott headed to the kitchen, but Sam entered the bathroom. D***it.

"It's ok, you can just change in here!" Lila told her with a smile.

'Change? In here? In front of you, a little girl who's barely old enough to know what puberty is, much less have experienced it? No way, no how,' Wanda thought. "It's fine, I'll just wait."

"Why? We're both girls!"

"Girls with a big age difference," Wanda grumbled.

"So what?" Lila's eyes went wide. "Is it cuz you have boobs? Cuz I don't care."

"What?! No! Why would you even think that?"

Lila shrugged. "I think you're lying."

Wanda scoffed. "Is Sam out yet?" She peaked out the door. By the look of the empty hallway, no.

"It doesn't matter, Wandy! I change in front of you!"

"That's different."

"How?" The nine-year-old gasped. "Is it cuz you've got puberty?"

Wanda blushed. "What the hel-ck? Heck? That was terrible phrasing."

"You aren't denying it!" Lila's eyes glistened with mischief. Wanda was glad that Lila didn't catch her nearly swear.

Wanda felt even more self-conscious than she already had. Thanks, Lila. She tightened the towel around her body. "I'm certainly not gonna change in here with you making fun of me," She snapped.

"I'm sorry," Lila said. "I didn't mean to."

Wanda bit her lip. She really wanted to get dressed. She was cold and felt super vulnerable. Would changing in front of little Lila Barton really be so bad? She thought for a moment before reluctantly removing the towel.

"Your boobs are so cool! I wish I had them!" Lila exclaimed.

Wanda picked a plush purple unicorn off of the floor and threw it at the girl. "That's such a weird thing to say, Lila, what the frick?!"

"Don't say that!"

"Say what?"

"Frick! Mommy said it's a bad word!"

"Oh, did she? I assume that you aren't allowed to say crap either." Wanda was grateful the topic had changed to something less mortifying. She quickly slipped her panties on, overwhelmingly glad that Lila hadn't noticed- or, at least, not commented on- her body hair. She had expected the young girl's attention to be on making unintentionally hurtful comments about it.

Lila shook her head. "Nuh-uh. You should be glad she can't hear you right now!"

Wanda laughed. As she picked up her bra, she noticed Lila's eyes were gazing at her intently.

"What are you staring at, you little pervert?"

"What's that mean?"

"Uhh... forget I said anything." Wanda could still feel her staring. She was about to yell at her when Lila said something that caught her off-guard.

"You're so pretty, Wanda! I wanna look just like you when I'm a teenager!"

Wanda stood frozen, unsure of what to do or say. She constantly judged her own appearance. She never thought that a little girl like Lila would ever want to look like her. "I'm not that pretty, Lila." She said with a scoff. She slipped the bra on, struggling to fasten it.

"Yes, you are, silly!"

Wanda finally got it clasped. "You're the silly one." She slid the dress on over her head. She grabbed her makeup bag, standing in front of Lila's mirror.

"Can you do my makeup?"

"You're too young for makeup." Wanda cringed. That was the most cliché answer ever.

"Please?" Lila gave her puppy dog eyes.

The teen sighed. "Just a little."

Lila squealed in excitement. Wanda finished her own makeup before applying some light lip gloss, blush, and eye shadow to Lila.

"We look so pretty!" Lila declared.

"You always look pretty," Wanda told her, tucking a lock of the younger girl's hair behind her ear.

"So do you! Let's go show Mom!" Lia grabbed her hand, dragging her out of the room. "Mom! Wanda did my makeup, see!"

Wanda couldn't help but smile as Laura complimented her daughter's makeup. "You look so pretty, Princess!"

"Wanda looks so pretty, too! Doesn't she, Mommy?"

"Yes, she does," Laura agreed.

Wanda gave her a small smile.

"How about you girls go sit at the table? Breakfast will be ready in just a minute."

"Ok!" Lila dragged Wanda to the table. They sat with the rest of the Bartons and Team Cap. Laura soon brought out the food and everyone dug in.
