Optimus gazed up slowly, his helm spinning from the impact of him being thrown. He attempted to stand up, mumbling "Megatron." As he helplessly watched the portal closed. He fell to his knees, closing his optics to regain himself.
He groaned, bringing his servo up and holding his helm in it until he was finally stable enough to stand up. He gazed around at his surroundings, exhaling sadly with frustration.
A small mumble from below him made him snap his helm down, optics widening.
"Amalgamous."
The blonde haired girl opened her eyes slowly, squinting at the blinding light of the sun. She groaned, shifting her hips slightly before her eyes suddenly widened as she sat up quickly.
"Wh-where's...Megs...Megatron?" She said, pushing herself off the ground quickly, attempting to climb to her feet. A sharp snap came from her body and she yelled out in pain, falling forward.
Optimus caught her and picked her up, a worried look in his optics. "Fuck...fuck, fuck, fuck!" Amal yelled out angrily as she gripped her leg. "Are you alright?" Optimus asked and the girl met his optics.
"Where is he?" She asked fiercely. Optimus hesitated, swallowing the lump in his pipe. "Amalgamous..." He said quietly and she furiously shook her head as tears brimmed her eyes. "No...no he can't be...he c-can't be..." she whispered, choking back as sob.
All Optimus could do was lend a comforting digit as the young girl started to sob, because for the first time in Optimus's life, he was unsure of what to do.
He thought it should've been him. He should've been the one to stay behind and destroy the groundbridge. But it was done, nothing he could do would change it. And he felt guilty as he opened his mouth to tell Amalgamous:
"I'm so sorry."

It was pitch black outside, with the stars shining all around the sky. Amal was laying across Optimus's seats, her arm hanging off the side, head laying on a pillow that she had left inside Optimus's cab when she rode with him to the Pentagon.
Tears stained the pillow, and every few seconds Amal sniffled harshly while choking back a sob. Eventually, she hiccuped painfully, but she didn't care. All she wanted to be back on the Nemesis, helping Knockout, or annoying Shockwave, or cuddling with Predaking, talking to Starscream, training with Breakdown, learning Cybertronian again with Soundwave.
And to do anything with the former Warlord that raised her.
"Amalgamous."
The girl mumbled something. "Are you hungry?" He asked and didn't get a response for a few seconds. "I dunno." She whispered, trailing her finger along the floor mats of Optimus's cab.
"I shall pull over to get something for you."
Amal didn't respond with anything, simply stared off at nothing in particular. "Did you know?" She asked suddenly. Optimus hesitated.
"I did not."
Amal nodded. "I wouldn't be mad if you did...I was just curious..." She whispered with her lip trembling. "He always said it would be him and I. No matter what. And when..." She breathed in to regain herself. "When he had told me what he said on the way to the Pentagon, I was so...so angry...because it was like he had lied to me...thinking about moving on from something so important in my life...it's just—just—" Amal let out a quiet sob mixed with a hiccup.
"God Starscream would be so mad at me right now." She whispered through her tears. "And why would that be?" Optimus asked, attempting to distract her. Amal smiled ever so faintly at the memories of the Seeker.
