Chapter 79

"Whoa, whoa! Stand down Ultra Magnus! Let us explain—"

"Explain what? That's a Decepticon!" The commander exclaimed in response to Arcee. "He's good! He's on our side!" Bumblebee exclaimed. "They're trying to save earth!" Jack told him and Ultra Magnus shook his helm.

"Cons only want one thing."

"To go back inside so I can drink this moment away?" Breakdown said sarcastically with his servos raised when Knockout appeared beside, saw the situation and looked at her sparkmate with narrowed optics. "What did you do?"

"ME? I was seeing what was happening when I got blasters aimed at me for no reason!" Breakdown exclaimed as Soundwave appeared as well. Ultra Magnus stared even harder.

"Ultra Magnus, please. While I know it's suspicious, we have been working alongside the Decepticons for quite sometime now, with Optimus Prime's approval. In fact, he was the one to suggest it." Ratchet tried to explain to the commander.

Ultra Magnus lowered his blasters a little. "Optimus Prime himself...approved working with the enemy." Ratchet nodded. "While it is a very, very long story. It is one that Optimus will happily tell you when we find him. Now please, lower your blaster so we can go in and contact our comrades."

Ultra Magnus hesitated before slowly transforming his blaster and looking at the Autobot Doctor. "There's no need to."

"Pardon?"

"There's no need to try and contact them." He told them and Ratchet frowned.

"We already know where they are."

"This is amazing news! We don't have to spend our time scavenging across the earth to find them!" Ratchet said happily as he stared at the map in Ultra Magnus's ship, who was sitting in the pilot seat, staring unhappily at Breakdown gazing around the ship in awe.

"This is fancy." He commented while walking toward the controls. "I'd love to pilot one of these things." He said while Knockout climbed into the ship from a different entrance with Soundwave, Bumblebee, and Raf following.

"So, where to next?" Arcee asked as she approached the commander. He motioned to the map.

"A town in New Mexico, right on the border. A signal's coming from there, then we go into Mexico itself for the last signal." Ultra Magnus explained. Everyone nodded as Ultra Magnus started the ship and began to take off.

"So, what happened after we evacuated? How'd you guys find each other?" Jack asked from where he stood on the table in the back. The Decepticons turned to him as Smokescreen sat at the bench that surrounded it.

"Well, Soundwave, Knocks and I went into hiding until Raf and Bumblebee found us."

"Into hiding? Why?"

Breakdown paused. "Well, we thought about this after evacuating. The groundbridge has a memory system, like a search history on a computer, that keeps track of the coordinates thats inputted in it. Somebody had to stay behind to destroy it so Unicron couldn't follow us..."

"And the only one stupid enough...or brave enough was Optimus Prime...or we thought." Knockout said and Arcee and Jack looked concerned. "Prime's alive though, we know." Breakdown said and Soundwave pulled up his sparkbeat monitor on the screen.

Arcee relaxed while Jack looked confused and concerned. He hesitated before asking "then who stayed behind?" Knockout looked away and shut her optics as Soundwave changed her screen.

Jack fell back onto his butt in shock. "Amalgamous..." he whispered, staring at the screen in disbelief. "No...it can't be...they're both dead?" He whispered and Breakdown nodded.
