Chapter Twenty-Six: Kevin

When Avi called me telling me what had happened, I knew Mitch was going to be hysterical. As soon as i told him he started panicking. When I say that boy loves Kirstie, I mean he loves her.

I saw it the first time we meet them. They way they all look at each other, you'd have to be blind to not see that they are basically one in the same.

If Mitch has felt left out at all he doesn't show it.

After I got off the phone with Avi i called Mitch down.

"Mitch!" I called

"Coming!" He runs quickly down that stairs, almost slipping but catches himself on the railing.

"Yes beta?"

"1) its Kevin we've talked about this. And 2) I've got some bad news."

"Bad news? Like what? Is kirstie okay? Is the baby? What happened?" There it is. His face is getting red and there are tears already streaming down his face.

I shake my head. "Kirstie will be fine but..."

"But what?!" He screams. His high pitch voice went a little higher. He's shaking.

"She lost the baby."

He gasped. "W-what?"

"She miscarried Mitch. Now I know that this is hard to process but Avi and I need you to be there for her. Shes gonna need both you and Scott to help her through this. Now she's not awake yet but im sure she'll want you there. So lets go get our stuff and get in the car.

Mitch was crying the whole are ride. He was doing his best to hold it in, but omegas aren't very good at hiding how they feel unless they've had a lot of practice.

I hear him hiccup a sob every now and then. I reach over and put my hand on his shoulder.

"Its okay Mitch. You can let it out. You wont be in trouble."

As soon as I said the last word he started howling. Almost literally. His eyes had turned blue and he almost submitted to his wolf. Luckily he caught himself before it got too bad.

"Im sorry beta. I'm just worried about her. She's one of my best friends."

"I know, I know." This is gonna be a long car ride.

When we finally get to the hospital I am overwhelmed with the smell if panic. And im pretty sure its Scott.

Oh man. This is gonna be rough.

Mitch starts bawling before we even enter the building. I smell Kirstie suddenly as if shes just waken up. She's panicking. Mitch smells it to and he starts running. I don't chase him because I know where he's going.

It takes ma a minute longer than it does Mitch to get to he room. The elevator was taking forever and when it opened there were way to many people in it, so Mitch goes and runs up the stairs. Let me tell you, the kids fast. Very fast.

When I get to the room Kirstie is cuddled with both mitch and Scott.

You can tell shes been crying but right now her face is straight. No tears, no emotion, nothing.

"Kirstie?" I ask. She doesn't look at me but I know she hears me.

"I know you don't know me very well, but I just wanted to say that I'm sorry. You don't deserve this."

Tears spring into her eyes. Her face doesn't change, but the tears fall down her face. Scott wipes them away with his sleep,or at least he tries to. She moved her face away so he wouldn't touch her. I don't blame her.

"Ca-can I just be with my boys please?" She asks.

"Of course kit."

I leave the room taking Avi with me and we go down the hall.

"What do we do?" I ask.

"We take care of her. This is going to set her back though. Not a lot but it will. We just have to be careful. There gonna keep her here for a few more days to make sure there are no other complications. That's the last thing we need. Do you smell anything on her?"

"No. Its like shes numb. I don't smell anything that even resembles fear or sadness or pain. All I smell is her. Which that's changed. Its not as sweet."

He sad. I can tell. He's angry. He doesn't know what to do. Leads usually like to be in control. This is something he couldn't control. He hates it. He feels responsible.

"Av, there's nothing you could have done. Her body couldn't handle having a child. It's not your fault."

All he does is nod.

Knowing that Kirstie doesn't want anyone but Scott and Mitch. I go in and quickly ask if the boys needed anything. Scott said he would text me.

This was going to be hard.
