Its amazing that some of Mitch's wounds are still bleeding, though some of them look days old. I decide that it would be better if we gave him a bath and cleaned him up, so that's what Scott and I are doing.

Scott's sitting the the bathtub holding Mitch against him as I help clean Mitch from the outside of the tub. The water is pink from all of the blood.

There is still a steady stream of blood coming from his arm and collarbone area.

As I'm cleaning him, I hear a sniffle and watch Scott's head drop and rest on Mitch's shoulder. "Scott?" I say.

"I'm okay."

"No you're not. Why don't you get some sleep when we're done here?"

"No, I need to help."

"Scott, there's literally nothing you can do after this. Do you know how to do stitches?" I ask because that is exactly what Mitch needs for over half of these cuts.

He shakes his head in defeat. "No."

"Then after this, you're going to bed cuddle with you're baby girl I'm sure she misses you." I give him a small smile as I gently clean Mitch's torso.

Poor kid. Not even 20 yet, and he's been through enough for multiple life times.

I see Scott shift and try to reposition Mitch, but he whines and I smell pain.

"Scott?" I look at him.

"I'm fine." He says as he winces.

"Its your shoulder isn't it?"

"I said I'm fine."

"Did it pop out of place again?" I drop the rag I was using in the water and go over to his shoulder, and sure enough, it moved.

"I'm fine." He repeats, but now i hear the pain in his voice.

"No you're not. I need to set it again." I go back over to Mitch who was basically clean and pick him up out of the water, with the help of Scott, despite my protests. We get him back into my office and I cover him with a towel until I can get back to him.

We go out to the living room and sit on the couch. "I'm gonna set you shoulder now. I told you nothing strenuous. That includes lifting Mitch." I gripe.

"He weighs a pound. I thought it'd be fine."

I sigh as I put my hands on either side of his shoulder. "Want me to count again?"

"Whats the point? Gonna hurt ei-AHHH!!!!!" He yelled as I set his shoulder.

He pants as he looks at the ground. "I hate that so much." He whispers.

"Sorry." I shrug.

"Question." He winces as he holds his shoulder. "Why doesn't Kirstie feel a lot of this? Like, she didn't feel when I got shot, at least as far as I know, and she didn't seem to feel my shoulder at all. So what the heck?"

"I've thought about the same thing and the only thing I can come up with is because she's pregnant. She stopped feeling those strong sensations on your end since."

"But when she slapped me, she was holding her face immediately after. So, I'm confused."

"Maybe the babies are like a block to major things. Like you getting shot or your shoulder. Those are very painful. I honestly have no idea. But that's the only thing I can come up with. But since you aren't pregnant, I don't think any pain she feels will be blocked from you."

"Wait." He looks at me with wide eyes. "Do you think I'll...feel it, when shes in labor?"

I chuckle at the fear in his eyes. "Probably."

He whines. "Can we knock me out for that?"

I shake my head. "Nope."

He groans and throws himself back on the couch, wincing.

"I swear, Scott, if you pop that shoulder out again, I'm gonna kill you." I pat his knee. "Get some sleep."

He muttered something, but was quickly asleep. I've never seen someone fall asleep that fast, but considering he's barely slept, and intoxicated, I'm not surprised.

I go back to Mitch, who has new trails of blood on him. I sigh and grab a cloth to wipe it off.

When I do the stitches I start with the one on his arm, but before I actually did anything, he jolted awake.

"Ah!" He screamed as he bolted upright. He looked around with wide blue eyes before his eyes finally settled on me. "Wheres Addalin?" He looks around frantically.

I drop what was in my hands and put them on Mitch's shoulders. "Breathe. I need you to breathe."

"Where is my baby?" He says sternly.

"She's upstairs sleeping. We got her less than an hour before we got you. You're home. You're safe. Im just taking care of your wounds." I make sure he's looking at me.

He nods and takes deep breaths and lays back down.

"How long was I asleep?" He asks rubbing his eyes.

"Less than two hours." I say. "This is gonna hurt." I pick up the stitch kit. "You sure you want to stay awake for it?"

"I just went through how ever many days being held captive my psychotic maniac of a father-in-law. I can handle stitches." He chuckles.

I just look at him. I can see it his eyes that somethings off, but given the circumstances, I don't say anything.

I start on the stitches and he doesn't complain once. Not verbally at least. He'll wince every now and again, but other than that, he's fine.

After I finish with the stitches I have him sit up so i can examine the rest of his body.

"Mitch, I hate to ask you this, but i have to." I say softly.

He looks at me and that look is still in his eyes. "Okay." He said simply.

"Did he...touch you? In an inappropriate way?"

He shakes his head. "No, he didn't do that. Nothing like that."

"Okay. That's all I needed to know." I smile at him and he nods.

"How long was I there?" He asks quietly.

"We don't need to talk about this right now." I offer.

"Its okay. I just wanna know."

I purse my lips. "Four days."

"Thats it?" He furrows his brow. "It felt like way longer than that."

I have no doubt in my mind that it did.

"Well, what matters is that your home now. You're safe, okay?"

He nods, but I can tell he doesn't quite believe me.

I give him a pair of shorts to put on and let him go to bed. He didn't want to sleep in his own bed, so I let him sleep in the bed I have set up in my office.

He falls back asleep before I can cover him up with a blanket. I leave the light on as i walk out. The last thing I want is for him to wake up in a dark room and have a panic attack.

I go up to my room where Leigh and Zac are. Both of them are sleeping on the bed, or well Leigh is. Zac is awake and looking around.

I go over and pick him up and cradle him against my chest.

"I love you, Zac. I will do everything in my power to keep you safe. I promise." I whisper.

He makes little noises as he lays against me.

I lay down in the bed and lay Zac between Leigh and myself. I kiss his head and lean over and kiss Leigh's.

I trace little shapes on Zac's little tummy before I eventually feel myself falling asleep.
