Chaoter 106: Esther

There is an uncomfortable silence in the car. Avi's driving, Scott's in the passenger seat, and I'm in the back. I can hear Scott on the phone with I'm assuming is Mitch based on they're conversation.

"No, baby that's not...no, she hates that one...that one too...again?...christ Um...is she tired?...of course not. Uh, just take her out of the room. Is Zac around her?...theres the issue. Separate the two for a while...because, Mitch. Clearly she doesn't want to be around him, so take her to another room."

I chuckle as I listen to the conversation, well, scotts side of it. Either way its funny. I continue to play on my phone until we make it to the address.

Avi and scott get out, and just as I'm about to Scott opens my door for me and holds a hand out. I smile as a thank you and get out of the car. We all look up. Its a fairly large building. I hear Avi groan.

"What?" I say.

"Its just so far. Is there another place that's maybe...a little close to us?"

"Well, yeah, but-"

"Then can we go look at one of those?" He turns to me.

I take a step forward. "Look, I get it. I know why your upset. But I can't stay with you for the rest of my life."

"Then join the pack. You're basically already in it. Everyone loves you. Especially Addalin, and you know how she is. Please. I just want you to be safe and you not as safe on your own as you are with me. Please?" He was holding my hand. When did that happen?

Maybe he's right. I sigh. "Okay, hows about, we look at a few apartments that are closer to the house. If none of them work, then I guess I'll be staying." I smile. It makes me happy to see the look on his face.

"Really?" He said hopefully.

"Really." He pulls me in for a hug.

"Good. Because I really want the kids to grow up together. There all gonna be relatively close in age, but hell, with what this pack has been through, I think we can handle it."

"You most certainly can. But are you sure? It's only like four months till Kirstie has the baby. Its gonna be crazy."

"I know, but that's how it goes. I want my niece to grow up in the best possible way. In the safest possible way. Granted my omegas have been kidnapped, but that entire situation was out of my control."

I heard Scott snort in the background. "I hate to break up this little sibling moment, but its hotter than hell out here. Can we go inside now?" He complains.

Both Avi and I chuckle.

"Come on you two. I will literally get sunburnt if we stay out here too long."

"Then go in the shade you big baby." Avi says.

"What shade?! There is none!" He opens his arms to indicate that there is in fact no shade. I'm pretty sure I can already see his neck turning red.

I roll my eyes. "Fine, you giant man child. We'll go inside after we finish this conversation." I give him and evil smirk.

He groans and throws his head back. "I hate you both." His phone rings and he picks it up. "Scott hoying, roasting in the sunlight. How may I help you?" He flips me and Avi off and turns around.

I chuckle and turn back to my brother. "Anyway, like i said, if things today are a bust, or something happens that basically screams that I need to stay with you-"

"Something other than me?" He chuckles.

I smack his arm and roll my eyes. "I will sic Mitch on you."

He fakes fear. "Ohhh I'm so scared."

"You will be." I play and walk off. I pat scotts back. He's wearing a green blue and white tank, and I can already see the red on his skin. I decide to be an ass and smack it.

His back arches away from me followed by a small hiss. He turns to me and his eyes are faintly red. "Ow!" He grunted.

"Damn you really are burnt." I chuckle, looking at his neck.

"Im a basic white bitch with pale ass skin. Of course I'm burnt. Now can we go in before it gets worse?"

I laugh and pat his shoulder. "Alright, alright. Lets go."

"Well, that wasn't too bad." I look to Avi, who didn't look very happy.

He just glared at me. I roll my eyes and pull him to the side away from Scott.

"What's your issue?" I say, crossing my arms.

"I just got used to having you around again and now you want to leave." He looks at the ground.

"Avi, its a thirty minute drive."

"I know that! I just missed you."

I sigh and pull him into a hug. "I know, I know. I just don't want to burden you with even more than you already have. With a baby on the way, you're focus has to be on Kirstie."

He sighs and sniffles. Is he crying? "You're right. Just...at least think about it. The pack loves having you around. And I'm sure they'll love Rose just the same. Hell they already do." He looks up and I see a single tear on his face.

"Oh, Av." I pull him into a hug.

What am I thinking? I can't leave my brother. Not again. "I'm sorry. I won't do it." I rub his back.

He sniffles again. When he pulls back he wipes his face. "No. If its something you want to do, I won't stop you. But that doesn't mean I have to be happy about it."

"Are you sure? Because I've honestly been thinking about it since we talked this morning. All the pros and cons. Yeah, it'll be nice to have my own place, but the pack is fun. I love all of you guys. I honestly am thinking about staying. I want Rose to grow up with Addalin and Zac and your baby. I want her to have a what we didn't."

"So...you're staying." He raised a hopeful eyebrow.

I laugh and nod. "For awhile at least." I playfully tug a strand of his hair. "Now, lets get on that elevator and go home shall we?"

"Definitely." He smiles.

He grabs my hand and beckons scott over and grabs his hand as well. "I love you guys." He says as Scott pushes the button

"We love you too." We say in unison.

The door opens and we step inside and scott pushes the button to get to the ground floor.

About half way down the elevator abruptly stops causing us to jolt a little bit.

"The hell?" Scott says, pulling out his phones since it went dark.

"I think it stopped." Avi says.

"Well, no shit." Scott rolls his eyes.

The Alphas start to banter and argue with each other as I feel a slight pain in my stomach, but I ignore it, thinking its nothing.

I'm fine until it comes back even stronger. I put a hand to my belly. "Please not now." I whisper to myself, knowing the boys are too caught up in what their doing.

I feel an even stronger and it causes me to grab scotts arm for support, because if I didn't, I would've fallen over.

"Es?" He says, looking at me, his face full of concern.

"I'm fin-Ah!" I say, practically doubling over.

I feel something start to flow down between my legs and see that his eye went wide.

"Esther." Avi says quietly.

"I think my water just broke."
