Chapter Twenty-Eight: Mitch

I cant believe what happened this morning with me and Scott actually happened.

He's way out of my league.

But besides that.

He needs to talk to Kirstie. He needs to know its not his fault. So I'm gonna talk to him.

After we finish making breakfast. I go around and wake up the rest of the pack and I tell them breakfast is ready. I try Kirstie's room.

"Yes?" She says after I knock.

"Can I come in?"

"Yeah."

I see her sitting at her vanity putting on her make up.

I smile this is the most productive I've seen her since we brought her home. "You look pretty." I notice she can't quite do her eyeliner wing so I decide I should help her. "Hun lemme help."

"I can do it. Its just a matter of actually doing it."

"Give the pen Kirstie. I know how to do this."

"How?"

"I'm gay Kirstie."

"Oh yeah. 'Cause that's obvious." She rolls her eyes.

I look at her with a raised eyebrow.

"Bitch please. I can do a full face of make up. I've been practicing to be a drag green after all." I snap my fingers in a "z" formation and stand like the prissy girl that I am. "Let this queen" I point to myself, "Show you how it's done." I do a hair flip, that would be way more effective if I had long enough hair.

A few minutes later she look absolutely stunning.

"There. Told you." I say. She gives me a smile and she laughs. I missed her laugh. Its so warm and light.

"What are you gonna do next? Teach me how to pole dance?"

I laugh so hard at this. "No, but I can teach you to..." I spread my feet apart just a little bit and I squat down, putting an arm in the air and a hand on my thigh and slowly jumping back up with a slight body roll. "Drop it down low."

She laughs so hard she almost snorts. "Don't let scott see that. He'll be all over you, in a heartbeat."

My heart flutters at the mention of Scott. I'm so attracted to him its not even funny.

"Speaking of Scott." Kirstie says. "Has he talked to you?" She's got a sad look in her eyes now.

"Well, how about we go downstairs and eat sone breakfast and you can talk to him yourself. How's that sound?" She nods and them smiles.

"I missed you Mitchy."

"I missed you too Kirstie." She wraps her arm around my waist, I wrap mine around her shoulders and we walk down stairs.

"Hey guys" I say. "Look who finally decided to join us?"

She smacks my shoulder. "Oh hush." She laughs. Then she gets more serious. "Im sorry I've been so distant."

"Its okay." Avi says as he stands up

She wasn't expecting him to get up so fast and his deep voice along with that scared her. She jumped and hid her face in my chest under my chin.

I stroke her hair as she calms down.

Avi mouths "sorry" to me and I nod, letting him know it was okay.

Avi looks down with a sad look in his eyes. He really wants her to be comfortable with him. Shes just not there yet.

After she calms down she looks up. Surprisingly enough her make-up is still perfect.

"Lets sit down." I say as I lead her to the seat between me and Kevin.

"Actually," she starts. "Can I sit between you and Scott?" Scott perks his head up at the mention of his name.

Him and Kirstie make eye contact. She smiles, but he looks down.

Kirstie's smile fell. She sat down but didn't look hungry anymore and her spunk was gone. After Kevin says Grace we all start eating.

For a few minutes no one says anything. There is tension at the table and I cant stand it anymore.

I stand up as I slam my hands into the table.

"Omega" Avi says with a warning tone. "You better be careful. You're lucky if I don't punish you."

"I'm sorry sir, but I can't take this anymore. Scott. She doesn't blame you, when are you going to see that? She's been wanting to talk to you and you've been ignoring her. Kirst, do you blame scott?" She shakes her head. "No, didn't think so. Scott. What happened wasn't you're fault. It was nobodies fault." I hear a objection star to come from Kirstie. I cut her off. "Nobodies! It's not your fault that your body rejected the baby. To be honest, given your history I'm not surprised. I'm sorry to say but it's the truth. Now you two need to talk to each other and figure this out. You both blame yourselves when there's no goddamn point."

"Omega." Avi warned again.

"I'm sorry sir. Please you guys. All I'm asking is that you two talk. You've both been having nightmares and they need to stop. They will, or at least scotts will, when you talk. So please. After breakfast promise me you guys will talk? I hate seeing my best friends like this."

I sniffle. I didn't realize I was crying. Great. Now I'm gonna have puffy eyes. Lovely.

At least I got them thinking. I can see it. Kirstie is just scooting her food around her plate, and scott is just staring at it. They've both got tears in their eyes.

Aw hell. I didn't mean to make them cry.

Suddenly scott stands up and marches for the door, taking his shirt off.

"Where are you going?" Avi ask.

"I'm going for a run. I'll be back soon."

"Just be careful. Make sure no ones around you." Avi says. Scott nods and walk out the door.

"Be careful?" I ask looking at Avi.

"He planning on phasing. If he does that in public he could go to jail."

"How do you kn-"

"I know because I've done it. I've phased in public and gotten arrested. Humans may have excepted our existence but that doesn't mean they like us. If scott phases and he's caught...I don't don't know what they do to him."

"Well" I sniffle. "Let's hope and pray he's not stupid about it."

Scott I swear to god if you get arrested...

We'll be fine Mitchy.

And how do you know that? Avi doesn't even know what would happen if you got arrested. Please, just be careful. That's all I ask.

Wait a minute. What?

"Avi...did you hear that?"

"Hear what?"

"I swear I just heard Scott's voice. Is he back already?"

"Mmm no. What do you mean you heard Scott's voice? Like...in your head?"

"Yeah I guess so?" Avi starts smiling. "What?!"

"Its nothing bad. Its actually a good sign. I've never seen it happen though. Its kind of rare I've only read about it."

"Aviiiiii." I whine. "What does it meaaaan?"

He chuckles. "Its called a mind link. It develops when you've spent a considerable about of time with your mate. Mitch...have you and scott kissed? I only ask because physical contact can speed up the development."

I feel my face go bright red. Avi put 2 and 2 together.

"Mitchy...I think Scott's your mate."

I widen my eyes and just stare at him
