Chapter 102: Kevin

I wake up to the smell of pain and Leigh aggressively shaking me. "Kevin!" She said once she saw I was awake.

"Baby, what's wrong?" I sit up quickly to go turn on the light. I see her curled in on herself, panting and holding her stomach.

She screamed. "The baby. My water broke. Ah!" She looked at me with tear-filled, yellow eyes.

I go over and sure enough, there's a wet spot on the bed. My eyes widen as I start to panic slightly. I hear a knock on the door and quickly go over to open it.

"Is everything okay?" Avi asks. I think. Everything is sort of muffled at the moment. I just stare at him. I can't remember how to talk. I feel him shake me at the same time Leigh screams and I snap out of my daze.

"Leigh's in labor." I say. His eyes go wide.

"Oh, shit."

"Her waters already broken. Go to my office and set up the table, and get Esther. I'll meet you guys there." He nodded and ran.

I go back over to Leigh. "Sweetie, I need you to breathe. Just like we practiced, okay?" She nodded and I kissed her forehead as she whimpers. "I love you."

"I love you too." She manages to say.

I gather her in my arms and make my way downstairs as carefully as I can and bring her to my office. I set her down on the table and I see Esther already scrambling to get Leigh's clothes off.

She covers her breasts with a damp towel, to both cover her and cool her off. Then she pulls off her shorts and covers her with a thin blanket, but Leigh kicks it off along with the towel.

"Guess not." Esther says.

Leigh screams again. I go over to pick up gloves to put on, but Esther stops me. "No, be up there with her. Go." She tells me.

"But-" I start.

"Kevin, get you ass up here!" Leigh screams at me.

I basically throw the gloves at Esther and scramble to get to Leigh and grab her hand. I kiss her head and look at her. "You've got this, okay? You're already doing amazing. Just breathe." I have her breathe with me until another contraction hits her and she grips my hand tightly.

"Ow." I say.

"I so do not want to hear you complain right now." She glares at me.

Esther turns to Avi who was waiting in the corner for instruction. "Go check on the pack, I'm sure at least one of them is awake. If they aren't I bet Addalin is about to wake them."

He nods and exits the room quickly.

"Okay, Leigh, honey, I need you to breathe." Esther says. "You're almost there okay? You got this." She has her hand in between Leigh's legs, checking her dilation. She looks at me and nods.

Leigh is breathing heavily as sweat shines on her face and body. I cup her face and make her look at me. "Baby, you're doing so well."

She grabs my shirt collar and yanks me closer and just glares at me. "I want this baby out." She growls.

I stare with wide eyes, but manage to compose myself. "I know, sweetheart. You're almost done. Okay? Just push when she tells you too. You've got this."

She just growls as she throws her head back as a contraction hits and practically crushes my hand.

"Ow ow ow ow ow, baby, baby." I say frantically.

"Shut up, Kevin!"

"Leigh," Esther says. "Its time. Your dilated. You know what that means. I need you to start pushing." She gives her a reassuring smile and a nod.
