Chapter 94: Esther

"I'm pregnant." I whisper.

Avi looks like he might be sick. He comes forward and pulls me into a hug where I sob into his shoulder. He pulls back and grabs my hands.

"Please. Stay here. We have the room. For both you and your baby. Please. You cant stay with him, especially if you're having a baby. Its not safe for either of you." He begs with a shaky voice. I can tell he's trying not to go all alpha right now. "Esther...did he rape you? I've seen those types of bruises before on Kirstie and you know her past. Did he?"

I take in a shaky breath and nod, avoiding eye contact.

"Esther, please come live with me. Me and you can go over to your place and get what you need. You can have Mitch or Kirstie's old room. Please, just...you can't stay there."

I don't know what it was, but something in his eyes convinced me. "Okay." I say quietly.

He pulls me into a hug. "Thank you." He says before kissing my cheek and pulling back. "Um, you can maybe fit into some of Mitch's clothes."

I shake my head. "No, that's alright. I'd much rather use some of yours. If Mitch is sleeping like you said, then you cant ask him and with everything going on with him I don't wanna bother him. So, if I could, can I just borrow a shirt?"

He nods. "Yeah, of course. Want my dragon one? The one you've been trying to steal for the last three years?" He chuckles and I nod.

He goes over and grabs the shirt and hands into me, then gets me a pair of boxers. "The showers down the hall. Do you need me to show you how to use it?"

"No, but thank you."

He pulls me into another hug before he walks out. I sigh and walk to the bathroom. I set the clothes down on the counter and turn on the water.

As it warms up, I get undressed and look at my body in the mirror. I look horrible. Bruises litter my body, all over. I know I need to leave Darien, but this baby has made that a bit difficult.

I get in the shower and just stand there, letting the hot water wash over me as I cry. No one can see or here me do it, so I don't hold back. I sink to the bottom of the shower until curl my knees into my chest and sob into them.

It isn't until I hear a knock on the door, that I realize how loud I was.

"Esther?" It's Avi.

"I'm fine." I say weakly, knowing he knows me better than that.

He opens the bathroom door. "Hun, I know you way to well to know that when the word "fine" comes out of your mouth that you're not." He opens the shower door to see me curled up in the corner of it.

"Here." He grabbed the shampoo and washed my hair for me. Then he grabs a big towel and wraps me up, before shutting off the water.

Then he picks me up, grabs my clothes and takes me back to his room. "Can you get dressed?" He asked as he set me down, accidentally pushing on a bruise. "I'm sorry." He says.

"Its okay. Yeah, I can get dressed. Where, uh, do you want me to sleep?" I ask, grabbing my shirt, them putting on the boxers

"Kirstie said you can have her room. For as long as you need." He cups my face so I look at him, rubbing his thumb against my cheekbone.

"Are you sure? I can sleep on the couch-"

"No. Kirstie figured you would say that. She said she's sure. She sleeps in here with me anyway." He drops his hand and grabs mine. "I'm so sorry he did this. You don't deserve this. How long had he been doing this? Is this why you haven't been able to see me?"

I nod. "I didn't want you to worry. Its been happening since I had my miscarriage. He blamed me for killing his child." I let out a sob and fall against him. "As if I-I didn't already blame myself enough." I sob into his shoulder, leaving wet patches on his shirt.

He just rubbed my back, letting me cry. He didn't try to stop me. He just let me cry. He brought us to the ground so I didn't have to stand.

"Its okay. It's gonna be okay. I'll take care if it." He whispers.

I pull back and look at him. "Avi, no."

"Why not? That bastard deserves it. I mean, look at you. Does he even know you're not human?" He asks.

I shake me head. Darien is human. I never told him I was part wolf. If my eyes ever changed in front of him, which they rarely did, I would act like something was in my eye and run off to the bathroom.

"Okay." Was all he said, which scared me.

"Avi, I said no." I say firmly. I've seen what he's capable of. He'll kill Darien if it came down to it.

He didn't respond, which didn't help. It only scared me more. I look and see that his eyes are red.

"Avi! Make you alpha back down! I'm serious!" I snack his shoulder.

"He hurt you Esther! What do you expect me to do?"

"Nothing. I expect you to do nothing. I know exactly what you capable of. I know what you did with Jeremy."

"What?" His eyes changed back to green.

"You really thought I wouldn't find out? They called me into the jail to try and keep him alive. He died before I got there! I know all about what he did, thanks to you. Of course I know what you did. I'm your sister. You already know I'm bound to find out the shit you do. So please, I'm begging you. Don't do anything." I had more tears in my eyes.

"I won't kill him. That's the only promise I'm making. I cant say that wont do anything if I see him." He says with a dark tone.

I know at this point there's no compromising. He'll do what he wants to do. "Fine. But be careful. He's human, the cops will be up on your ass if they hear about it." I warn.

"I know."

I sigh. Honestly, I want Avi to rough him up, I just don't want him getting thrown in jail for it.

"Is there something I can do around here?" I say, changing the topic.

"Uh, scott and Kirstie are on the couch watching Rapunzel, I think. I'm sure they would love the company." He smiles.

"I dont want to intrude-"

"Nonsense. They love you. Besides, you love Rapunzel. Come on." He stands up and offers his hand to me. I take it, but once in on my feet, I wobble a bit as a wave of dizziness washes over me, and Avi catches me before I fall. He picks me up bridal style and I snuggle into his chest and yawn.

"Better yet, why don't you take a nap?" He suggests.

I just nod, suddenly feeling how tired I am. He lays me down in his bed and tucks me in, then hands me a teddy bear. "Kirstie uses this when she doesn't feel good or if she's frightened by something. She says it helps." He tucks the bear into my arms, and kisses my forehead. "I love you, Esther. You've always been there for me with everything with dad and all. Let me be here for you for a change."

I nod. "Okay, little brother." I say. He shouldn't be taking care of me, I'm the older sibling, I should be helping him. "I love you too." I give a small smile, and before I know it, I'm out like a light.

Some sibling love for y'all.

I just wanna clarify a few things, as there has been some confusion.

I wanted all of their kids to be pretty close in age. Granted this is really close, but that's just how it worked out.

Esther and her story is more secondary to the story, I'm just bringing it up.
