Protect Me?

Slender's P.O.V

"Slender, will you protect me?" Her words went through my head. I told her I'd protect her, now the person sent to capture her is gone. I sat down, my head in my hands.

"Slender, it'll be okay," Masky reassured me, I nodded, at least Shadow is safe. Shadow! I stood up, rushing to the bedroom, I opened the door to see her sound asleep. I drew a breath of relief, I closed the door as I left the room.

"Slendy?" I turned to see a sleep Kadence looking at me, "why was Shadow crying," I walked over and lifter her up.

"she just had a nightmare," I said quietly.

Shadow's P.O.V.

We sat in the grass listening to the birds chirp, Kadence sat between me and Slender playing with a blue and purple butterfly. Slender reached for my hand but before he could grab it the ground split, I tried standing up but my bones suddenly felt weak and heavy, I fell back down watching Kadence and Slender drift off into the foggy forest that had once been beautiful and green but now was black and white.
"Shadow!" I heard a voice scream through the fog, it must've been Slender's. Strength was then restored to my bones making me able to stand. I jumped up, the fog started to clear but the forest was still eery looking. I saw Slender and Kadence looking at me hopefully. I felt something inside me spark, I focused on reaching them and before I knew it a path of dirt made a trail over to Slender and Kadence, the dirt was hard and dried but it seemed that there was nothing supporting it, I took a chance and ran faster than I've ever ran, I felt dirt falling under my feet and soon I too was falling. I fell, engulfed in something dark, there was a ugly feeling the darkness. I Got the feeling I was still falling. I wasn't crying. I wasn't screaming. I was falling, falling into darkness, falling into nothing. Falling.

Slender's P.O.V.

I walked into my bedroom to get ready for bed when I noticed Shadow's chest wasn't rising and falling, instead it was still, I ran over to her, putting my hand under her nose to feel no breath entering or leaving. She didn't seem to be struggling for air, I tried to wake her up but I was unable to. I started to focus on her mind, maybe I could enter it and wake her. I focused for awhile but there seemed to be what felt like a wall, something keeping me from communicating with her. I sat there for a moment waiting for her to do something, if I couldn't do anything neither would anyone else. I watched her face waiting for her to take a breathe.

Shadow's P.O.V.

I soon became tired of falling, I put out my hand to feel what felt like jello but was a dark black, I pushed off one wall with my foot straight into the dark jello. I found myself in the same forrest but this time I was with Slender and Kadence, I hugged them strongly, never wanting to let go. Suddenly the surroundings dimmed, they became out of focus and everything went dim till it was pitch black. I felt a pressure on my hand and someone smoothing my hair, I closed my eyes firmly, then forcing them to open to a new room, Slender's bedroom, I took a deep breath and everything became clearer. I looked at a surprised Slender he let go of my hand and hugged me.

"Are you okay?" He asked, his lips playfully pecking my cheek over and over again.

"Yes but I feel dizzy," I said, swatting his face away and putting my hand on my head.

"Lack of oxygen," he said, "you weren't breathing,"

"I wasn't... Breathing?" I looked at him,
"No you weren't, I was hoping you would start soon, you weren't breathing for awhile," I fell back on my pillow, my hands on my forehead.

"I'm never sleeping again," I groaned, I heard a chuckle from Slender and soon I was giggling a little soon.

"Ready for your training Kadence?" Kadence nodded. We were standing in the middle of the forrest were I had first started my training, "okay, so if you are a real shadow wolf you'll be able to transform, okay so, focus on becoming a wolf and stuff," I said, scratching my head, I didn't really know how to explain it to her.

"Okay!" Kadence said excitedly, she curled up in a ball on the ground, her eyebrows scrunched up in determination. She sat like that for awhile until uncurling and pouting,
"Maybe I'm not a shadow wolf," she said, sticking her bottom lip out, "I'll race you home!" She said, running as fast as her stubby legs could carry her, I jogged slowly behind her, letting her win when suddenly she changed, jumped landing as a wolf, kinda like how I did when I was racing Slender. She stopped abruptly turning towards me, even though she was a wolf I could tell she was happy. She transformed back finely learning how it all worked,
"THIS IS AWESOME!" She called as she ran back to the mansion hoping in and out of shadows, I let her go by herself because I could see the mansion closely and knew she would make it. Once she was safely inside I turned towards a empty place in the line of trees, I stared at it, focusing on something being there when a tree grew. I almost jumped backwards, the limbs grew out but because it was winter they stayed leafless, I ran up to tree and hugged it, smiling wide.

"Slend-" I stopped in the door way to see Kadence laying on the ground, blood pooled around her,
"W-w-what happened?" I asked, my legs suddenly feeling weak. Everyone looked at me pain in their eyes as they gathered around Kadence.
