Story time!!
So as I've said before, I used to go to a private Catholic school. The religion teacher, as I've also said before, was a massive Karen, minus being a flat earther and anti-vaccinator.
Anyways, she firmly believed animals had no souls, and made sure to tell us six graders.
Yeah, that didn't go over well.
"ANIMALS HAVE SOULS!"
"ANIMALS HAVE PERSONALITIES, WHY CAN'T THEY HAVE SOULS?!"
"WHERE IN THE BIBLE DOES IT SAY THAT?!"
Her reasoning: God gave humans free will and therefore souls, but didn't give it to animals so they have no souls.
Now, I'm not trying to bask your beliefs, so please don't take it like that.
But....
Animals have souls.
They can love, they can be loyal, they can feel. They understand emotions and loss, friendships and enemies. They know when you're sad and often try to cheer you up. They understand kindness and cruelty. If they can understand and, better yet, react to those things, they very well have souls.
And I know some argue that animals aren't as intelligent as humans, so here's my argument.
Who ever degreed we humans were better than animals? What makes us so superior? Because we can build buildings? Because we can create wars and kill millions in the span of four years? Because we destroy the very planet that keeps us alive? Because we enslaved others of our species for hundreds of years and then denied doing that? Because we persecute each other for no good reason?
Yeah, totally. We're totally the better species.
It's not like animals create or rebuild their homes every single year or anything. It's not like the biggest "wars" animals have are minor disputes between leaders over lands and only affects the leadership. It's not like they respect the earth because they don't need to be greedy, don't understand greed. It's not like animals have symbiotic relationships to support each other. It's not like animals have LGBT+ animals in their communities and give zero cares.
Am I kinda promoting a more animal-like life? Slightly.
Am I saying animals may be more evolved than us in certain areas? Definitely.
