One Day

The smell of stew made images of Mo Guan Shan flash through He Tian's mind as he walked through the market on his way home. He had just come back from visiting his father and was in quite the bad mood. He had hoped, like every other time he visited, his father wouldn't show up and he could go home relatively easy. It had been that way since He Tian had smashed the window and ran back to Guan Shan.

This time, however, his father had shown up. He gave given He Tian a look of disappointment as he always had and slapped him across the cheek for his failing grades in school. He had made a casual remark of wanting He Tian to move back home and to stop being such a nuisance to his brother. He Tian stood and listened to every word he said and left when he was excused.

The next time He Tian looked up, he found himself outside of Guan Shan's apartment. A feeling of longing to be near the redhead ran through his entire being and he stepped forward and raised his hand. Just as he was about to knock, the door opened and Mrs. Mo looked at He Tian with surprise.

"Oh, He Tian dear. How long have you been out here? Did you knock?"

He Tian switched on a bright smile for her and he bowed. "Hello, Auntie. No, I just got here; I was about to knock."

She readjusted the handbag that was sat on her shoulder and stepped outside. "Well, I'm just leaving for work so I'm afraid I'll miss your company this time but Guan Shan is inside about to make himself some dinner if you want to go in." She stuck her head back in and spoke. "Guan Shan, honey. You have a visitor. Cook him some dinner and behave whilst I'm gone. I love you."

Guan Shan's head popped around the corner wearing a confused expression before his mouth gaped open. He Tian's smile brightened as he stepped inside and closed the door behind him. His eyes ran down Guan Shan's body. The ginger boy was wearing black shorts with a black short-sleeve shirts and... Is that my jacket?

Guan Shan's face flushed as he noticed He Tian's stare lingered on the jacket he was wearing. He cleared his throat and folded his arms, his gaze diverting to anywhere except He Tian. "What are you doing here? You're gone for three days and suddenly show up? You've been doing that a lot these past couple of months."

Under the fumbling words, He Tian could hear the concern Guan Shan had for him. Without saying anything, He Tian walked forward. Guan Shan took a step back, his mouth open to say something but was stopped when He Tian rested his head on Guan Shan's shoulder. He Tian could feel Guan Shan's shoulders relaxing after a few seconds and he felt a cold hand rest on the back of his neck in a comforting gesture.

"I want beef stew." He Tian mumbled after a while.

"I cooked you some last week. It should still be in the freezer. Go home and warm it up." Guan Shan stepped back and took the jacket off, placing it on the back of the couch before he walked into the kitchen area. "I'm not cooking stew, I'm cooking curry."

"I don't want curry." He Tian pouted, his bad mood dissipating and he felt the need to relentlessly tease Guan Shan.

Guan Shan turned around and glared at He Tian. "Eat curry or eat shit. Go home."

Once the smell of the spices wafted over to He Tian from his position on the small couch, he turned off the TV and made his way over to the kitchen. He leaned over Guan Shan's shoulder to look at the food and subconsciously wrapped his arms around Guan Shan's waist.
