One Day

A knock at the door drew Mo Guan Shan from his magazine and he glanced at the alarm clock on his bedside table. 10:42 pm. "Who the fuck is here at this time of night?"

The knocking turned into rather accessive banging and Guan Shan threw the horoscope magazine on the floor and got out of bed. If it's that fucker He Tian, I'll kill him. They're gonna wake up Ma! Guan Shan threw open the door and his eyes widened in surprise as, instead of black hair, it was white hair that greeted him. White hair that was slowly falling to the ground.

She Li?

Guan Shan automatically reached out and caught She Li before he fell to the floor. He tried to look down at She Li's face but the other had slumped over in Guan Shan's arms. He released a heavy sigh and proceeded to drag She Li into his room and placing him on the bed. He stared down at the unconscious boy and found he had been in some kind of fight - bruises were bright on his face and arms, his knuckles were scratched and bleeding and spots of blood were dotted on his black shirt.

Guan Shan narrowed his eyes in confusion. Why would She Li come here of all places? They hadn't had a good friendship in the longest time, that and Guan Shan had been avoiding She Li at every possibility. In fact, the last time they had even interacted, Guan Shan had hit She Li with his bag and ran to He Tian.

Letting the thoughts go for now, Guan Shan went into his bathroom and ran a cloth under the tap and wrung it out. He went back to She Li and sat on the bed next to him and proceeded to gently wipe down his face. Why he was even doing this at all was beyond him. He should either call an ambulance or one of She Li's lackeys. But instead, he proceeded to wipe the blood away.

He got up to wring out the cloth once more when a hand grabbed his wrist. He gasped, startled. Guan Shan turned and saw She Li staring at him, his eyes barely open. "What are you doing?" He mumbled.

"C-cleaning you up, what does it look like, dumbass?" Guan Shan tried to pull away but She Li only tightened his grip so Guan Shan sat back down next to him.

She Li's yellow eyes flitted around the room. "Why am I here?"

"You came here."

She Li looked at Guan Shan and stared for a moment before his eyes glazed over as if remembering something. "I was nearby."

Guan Shan frowned. "That's all you're gonna say? You're not gonna tell me what the fuck happened?"

"There are just some things you don't need to know, Mo Guan Shan." A small smile slid onto his face.

Guan Shan shook his head and ripped his arm from She Li's grip before getting up and rinsed out the cloth and going back to the bedroom. He continued to clean up She Li and was consciously aware he was being watched the entire time.

"It's been a while," She Li murmured, "since I saw you this close up."

Guan Shan made eye contact for all but a second. "Well, maybe if you weren't such a chicken dick, we'd still be friends and I wouldn't avoid you all the damn time."

"I've gotta be the villain in someone's story, Red, and I just so happen to be it in your story. Everybody loves to hate the bad guy."

Guan Shan stared at him before shaking his head slightly. "That mindset will leave you without any friends or family. It's not healthy. And you weren't always the bad guy, She Li. You saved me, remember?" Guan Shan's mind flashed back to the time they first met.

She Li chuckled. "So I was your knight in shining armour at one point, huh? Before that He Tian came along anyway."

"He Tian has nothing to do with this so shut up and let me get you cleaned up."

After half an hour, She Li sat up and took the cloth from Guan Shan. "I should get going. Wouldn't want to disturb your mother now, would we?" The pair walked to the door and before he left, She Li turned back to Guan Shan. "Hey, thank you."

Guan Shan's lip curled up slightly on one side. "Consider us even."

She Li gave a wry smile before he reached out and rubbed Guan Shan's head. "You're a good kid, Mo Guan Shan. Too good for the likes of He Tian and myself." He turned and left.

Guan Shan stared into the darkness and sighed. "Where was that She Li when I needed him?" He turned around and shut the door behind him.

-------

I felt I've been too mean to She Li recently so I decided to not make him the bad guy for once.
