One Day
Jumping from building to building without being caught by security cameras was harder than He Tian thought it would be. But as a demon, he didn't mind a challenge. He was bored and was looking for something that could entertain him for a while.
Different ideas passed through his mind, such as setting a building on fire or kidnapping a couple of people and scaring the hell out of them, but nothing seemed entertaining enough for him. So instead he was jumping around and seeing if anything caught his interest.
Suddenly, something had caught his interest. A straightly intoxicating scent shot past him as he dove over a building. Coming to a stop, He Tian turned around and took a deep breath. There it was again. It smelt like nothing he'd ever smelt before. Closing his eyes, He Tian let his highly sensitive sense of smell guide him.
Standing at the edge of what seemed to be an apartment building, He Tian looked down and dropped into the fire escape silently. Working his way down he peered into each window, scaring a few people in the process, and finally seemed to come to the source of the smell.
He Tian seemed to be peering into the window of a kitchen. Within the kitchen a young man stood with his back to He Tian. He had fiery ginger hair and taut muscles that were pulling his yellow shirt every time he moved his arms, as well as grey jogging bottoms. The boy seemed to be stood at a stove, steam poured around him as he stirred something in the pot.
He Tian wasn't sure if the intoxicating smell was the boy or his food. But he wanted to find out. Badly.
Silently, He Tian slid the window open and crawled inside, making his way over to the dining table. He sat back and watched the boy work away, stirring and adding ingredients, tasting and nodding his disappointment or approval of his food. It made the demon hungry. For the food or the boy, he wasn't sure.
Mo Guan Shan grabbed a bowl out of the cupboard and turned around to place it on the counter when he noticed the boy sat at the table. Dropping the bowl out of shock, he stood back and tripped. Suddenly, the boy was no longer at the table but was holding Guan Shan in place, the bowl in his hand.
Grinning, He Tian looked the boy up and down. "You should be careful, Redhead. You almost knocked into the boiling hot pot."
Guan Shan breathed out in shock. Suddenly gaining his senses, he raced away from the stranger and grabbed the closest thing to him - a rolling pin covered in flour. "Who the fuck are you and how did you get into my house?" He asked through gritted teeth.
He Tian put the bowl down on the side and sat at the table, not seeming the least bit worried about the boy wielding a rolling pin. "Relax, Red. I'm not here to hurt you. My name is too complicated to say in your native tongue so you can call me He Tian. And I'm here because of that delicious smell. Whether it's you or the food, I'm not sure but that's what I'm here to find out." He smiled at the bewildered redhead before him.
Guan Shan shook his head, his eyebrows burrowing in confusion. "Native tongue? Smell?" Something registered in his mind and panic began to settle in. "How the hell did you get to me so fast when I fell? You was sat down and I was over here. There's no way you could've reached me in time..." Guan Shan fell into silence waiting for an answer.
"You know, Red, you look like a crazy person." He Tian inspected his nails like he didn't have a care in the world. "Put the rolling pin down and come sit." He patted the table and looked at the boy with a slight smirk on his face. "I won't bite unless you ask me to."
Guan Shan frowned, his face full of suspicion. Relaxing his posture slightly, Guan Shan walked over to the table and sat back, the rolling pin still in his hand. "Are... Are you gonna answer my question or not?"
"I'm a demon."
A cold sweat ran down Guan Shan's back. Usually he would have called bullshit but somehow he knew this... person in front of him wasn't lying. He took a deep breath and frowned with discomfort. "Couldn't you have sugarcoated that a little?"
He Tian raised an eyebrow. "Oh, but the truth is so much more interesting. Just as much as someone's reaction to hearing it. You're awfully calm."
Guan Shan took a deep breath. "Don't think it's sunk in." Guan Shan eyed him. "The fuck are you in my house for?"
"I told you, I'm here because of the smell. Speaking of," He Tian stood and in an instant, had the other boy backed against the wall. Guan Shan gasped in shock and stood frozen, not knowing what to do. He Tian put his face in the crook of Guan Shan's neck and took a deep breath, causing shivers to run down Guan Shan's spine. "You do smell divine."
Sensing the boy's discomfort, He Tian moved away and moved over to the food still cooking. "What is this anyway?"
Guan Shan blinked a couple of times and swallowed the scream that tried to escape. "Be-beef stew." He managed to breath out.
He Tian sat back at the table and watched as the redhead walked over to the beef stew to stir it, all the while keeping an eye on the demon. "I'll make you a deal," Guan Shan froze, and turned to face He Tian fully.
"What's that?"
"Give me some of your beef stew and I'll tell you everything about myself."
Guan Shan scoffed. "I don't wanna know shit about you." He turned back and stirred angrily.
He Tian raised an eyebrow. "I just told you I was a demon and you have zero questions for me? Bullshit."
Guan Shan took a deep breath and licked his lips. Turning off the stew, he made a bowl and placed it in front of He Tian. "Fine, but I want full answers, not half-assed bullshit answers"
He Tian smiled at the bowl, then up at Guan Shan, grinning. "You've got yourself a deal."
