One Day
The corners of Mo Guan Shan's lips raised in the smallest of smiles. "Time for you to go, Shit head."
He Tian's charming smile covered his face and he leaned closer to Guan Shan, who was leaning against the wall, waiting for He Tian to put his shoes on. "But we were having so much fun~"
"You were having fun reading magazines whilst I did my homework that you forced me to do." Guan Shan raised an eyebrow, trying to seem unimpressed and failing miserably. Truth was, he'd had fun today and it even made his mood slightly brighter than it had been in months.
"Need to get your grades up, Don't Close Mountain. No one likes a slacker." He winked and moved closer.
Electricity burned between them as they stared at each other for a few seconds. Guan Shan looked away first, clearing his throat, a soft pink to his cheeks. "Shoes." He stated.
He Tian chuckled and put his shoes on before moving to open the door, his eyes never leaving Guan Shan. A figure in the doorway caught their eyes and they looked away from each other to see a girl standing there with a huge grin on her face.
"Surprise!" She yelled.
Guan Shan's eyes widened and a smile slid across his face. " Shu*!" He stepped forward and pulled her into a hug. Shu squealed and wrapped her arms around his neck.
Seeing this, He Tian's heart plummeted into his stomach. Who the hell is this? Why is she touching him? Cold fury spiked through him and he felt his eye twitch. As if suddenly remembering He Tian was there, Guan Shan froze before pulling away from Shu, and looking at He Tian, a blush covering him from the neck up. "Maybe some introductions are needed, Guan Shan?" He Tian stated a little more menacing than he meant.
Before Guan Shan could say anything. Shu stepped forward and grabbed his hand. "I'm Shu, Guan Shan's childhood friend. It's nice to meet you! You are?"
Surprised at the physical contact, He Tian raised his eyebrows. "He Tian."
"You're like, super hot. Are you single?" She looked at Guan Shan and raised her eyebrows suggestingly.
"Okay, time for He Tian to leave now." Guan Shan removed her hand from He Tian and practically pushed him out the door. "I'll see you tomorrow." As he turned to leave, He Tian grabbed his wrist, pulling him outside and closing the door, leaving Shu inside. "Wha- hey!"
He Tian tightened his grip on Guan Shan's wrist slightly. "A childhood friend, huh? She's bold, asking me if I was single."
Guan Shan sighed, trying to tug his wrist from He Tian. "She's just outgoing. Always has been."
"I don't like her."
Guan Shan rolled his eyes. "You don't even know her."
"And I don't want to." He Tian pulled him closer. "Why is she here? Is that why you asked me to leave, so you could spend some time alone with her?"
"What? No, don't be so fucking ridiculous. I speak to her every now and then but I haven't seen her in 5 years, I didn't even know she was coming here today so get off my fucking back. Shit."
He Tian let out a short breath. "I'm sorry. I just don't like the thought of anyone getting close to you."
Guan Shan looked away. He had stopped trying to pull away. "Stop. You're not allowed to feel this way."
"Feel what? The fact that I like-"
Guan Shan put his hand up and interrupted him. "Jealous, He Tian. You're not allowed to feel jealous. There's no one else."
He Tian took a step closer until they were almost touching chests. "'Else?'"
Guan Shan couldn't look him in the eye. "Don't go there. I don't wanna talk about this here. Someone's waiting for me."
"They're not the only one, Little Mo." He Tian's voice was soft and quiet. "I'll come to get you for school tomorrow. Wait for me." With that, he left.
Guan Shan went back inside where Shu was waiting for him with a smirk on her face, but he couldn't look her in the eye. When she opened her mouth, he held up his hand. "Don't."
*
Over the next week, everywhere that Guan Shan went, Shu seemed to be there with him. She often waited for him outside school and would spend the afternoon together. He Tian noticed the way her hand seemed to linger when she touched him, the way she hugged him a little too tight and she would kiss him on the cheek goodbye. What made it worse is that every time, she would glance at He Tian to see his reaction.
He Tian hated it. Guan Shan never laughed or smiled with him. He always got pushed away when he tried to touch Guan Shan, so why was she allowed? He Tian snapped out of his thoughts when he noticed Shu leaning in to kiss his cheek again.
He'd had enough. He Tian snapped.
He strode over to them and pulled Guan Shan behind him, ignoring his protests as He Tian glared at Shu. She raised her eyebrows and folded her arms, a slight smirk on her face as she stared back at him. A challenge.
"I know exactly what you're doing and you think I'm gonna stand here and let you take him? Bullshit. Keep your hands to yourself."
Guan Shan sighed and put his head in his hands. "He Tian." He sounded mortified. But He Tian didn't care. He wasn't backing down this time. He'd had enough of people trying to come between them and he wasn't going to stand for it anymore.
Shu barked out a laugh. "I knew it. I knew you liked him. Mo Guan Shan you're such a liar!"
He Tian's brow furrowed in confusion and he looked between Shu, who had a triumphant grin on her face, and Guan Shan, who looked like he wanted to be anywhere else. "What-?"
"I'm a lesbian." She stated and giggled.
He Tian raised his eyebrows in shock, and then his face flushed with embarrassment at his outburst. He turned to Guan Shan. "Did you know this?"
"Why do you think I tried to stop you, dumbass?"
"Why all the flirting and touching then?"
Shu patted He Tian's shoulder in a comforting manner. "I saw how you watched us when I first showed up. I always ask Guan Shan about his love life but he always avoids the subject or gives me a vague answer so when I saw you, I wanted to know if there was anything going on."
"Is that why you asked me why I was single? To see if Guan Shan and I are a couple?"
"Bullseye." She winked. "So fear not, Pretty Boy, I'm not interested in Guan Shan. He's just a friend. I only kept touching him to see how you'd react." She laughed.
"You never change. Always butting into everyone's business." Guan Shan didn't look amused.
He Tian stared at her, trying to take in all the information. He had been tricked and he wasn't sure how to feel about it. On one side, Shu was just teasing him but on the other side, she was pushing them closer. He sighed and decided to sort his head out later. He rubbed the back of his neck. "I'm sorry for talking to you like that."
She dismissed him with the wave of her hand. "Don't stress. Just look after him and treat him well." They both looked at Guan Shan who was blushing again.
"Don't worry." He Tian winked at Guan Shan. "He's in good hands."
