Mo Guan Shan narrowed his eyes in suspicion as he looked at the text he had received from He Tian. He really didn't want to go - he had been working all day and now he just wanted to go home and sleep. He sighed, annoyed. He knew that if he didn't go, He Tian would just bug him all night. Literally.
He slung his bag over his shoulder and made his way towards the apartment block he had gotten so used to. He looked up, as always, and admired the height of it and the way the sky always reflected off the glass, no matter the weather. As he went to open He Tian's door, Guan Shan stopped when he heard a strange noise coming from within.
He listened some more before his curiosity got the better of him and he went to take a look. He creaked open the door and peered in before realising the noise was coming from the living area. He took his shoes off and poked his head around the corner. Sitting on the sofa was He Tian. His focus, instead of being on the television like it normally was, was on something in his hands.
Guan Shan's eyes lit up as he noticed the head and tuning keys of an electric guitar. He came into view and He Tian's head whipped up, a smile lighting his face as he took in Guan Shan's expression. He raised his eyebrows. "Told you it would be worth it."
Guan Shan sat down on the sofa next to He Tian, his eyes never leaving the guitar. "When did you get it?"
"Today. I thought we could have a lesson or two."
Guan Shan stared at He Tian then narrowed his eyes in suspicion. "Since when do you play guitar?"
"Do you doubt my absolutely perfect skills, Little Mo? I'll have you know I'm a born natural at the guitar."
Guan Shan raised an eyebrow sceptically before folding his arms and deadpanning. "Where's the tone controls?"
He Tian glanced down at the guitar before grabbing the vibrato bar. He looked up at Guan Shan with confidence and grinned.
Guan Shan laughed and shook his head. "So, you're not so perfect after all, huh? That's the whammy bar, you idiot. The tone controls are here." Guan Shan leaned forward and pointed, his fingers grazing the smooth surface.
He Tian stared at Guan Shan for a moment before thrusting the guitar into Guan Shan's arms. "You seem to know what you're doing. Why don't you teach me a thing or two."
Guan Shan's gaze flitted between He Tian and the guitar. "Just because I know the damn thing doesn't mean I know how to play." As he said this, his fingers set into a random chord and he strummed gently with the pad of his thumb. A small but melodic sound played lightly.
He Tian's gaze softened into a small smile as he handed Guan Shan a guitar pick. "You seem to be doing just fine to me, Don't Close Mountain. Keep going, I could watch all night."
Guan Shan shook his head as the corner of his mouth lifted and his concentration fell back onto the guitar. He Tian sat back and watched as the redhead hesitantly shifted his fingers around and played a few different chords. Guan Shan glanced up and pointed to the top of the guitar.
"These are the tuning keys. A guitar needs to be tuned regularly by using an amp..." Guan Shan went on to explain the different parts of the guitar and how the different chords worked together. He Tian watched on with fascination, but strangely, not with the guitar.
The redhead before him was coming alive with one of his passions and it made He Tian feel warm inside to see him so open and relaxed. It made him want to each forward and grab the back of his neck, holding him still, and kissing him right in the middle of his sentence.
So that's exactly what he did.
Guan Shan stopped mid-sentence and tensed up. When He Tian pulled away, Guan Shan was staring at him with wide eyes and a tomato-coloured face. He Tian smiled and pulled the guitar out of his hands.
"I think I got the hang of it for now. We should have more lessons in the future though, so we can learn together."
Guan Shan blinked a few times as his face slowly returned to its normal colour. His eyes darted everywhere except for He Tian. "Y-yeah. More lessons. Sounds... fun."
Yes. Yes it does sound fun. Messing with Guan Shan was He Tian's favourite game but sometimes, like now, he wasn't messing with him. He meant the kiss, just like he did the first one they shared.
"I, uh, gotta go now. It's late. See ya at school tomorrow." Guan Shan threw his bag over his shoulder and raced to the door with He Tian on his heels, the guitar forgotten on the sofa.
"Bring me some lunch and I'll treat you to a nice sandwich tomorrow." He Tian cooed from the doorway.
"Fuck off, bring your own, Lazy." Guan Shan flipped him off before walking towards the elevator.
"Hey, Little Mo?" He Tian called. Guan Shan turned and looked at him questioningly. He Tian blew him and kiss and winked, causing Guan Shan's face to light up again. He flipped him off once more before storming down the stairs instead.
He Tian chuckled and closed the door. At least he didn't push me off him and start crying again like last time. He Tian glanced at the guitar on the sofa and smiled fondly at it. He and Guan Shan were getting closer as the days went on and he couldn't wait to see what the future would bring.
