One Day

Lonely.

If He Tian had to describe how he felt, that would be the word he would use.

Jian Yi had once again been dragged to the He estate for the night and refused to go alone. He Tian had brought both Zhan Zheng Xi and a rather reluctant Mo Guan Shan with him. It was only after He Tian promised to show Guan Shan Brother Qiu's motorcycle up close that he agreed.

It was still early morning and He Tian walking his usual path towards a place he didn't often visit. He didn't have many memories of his mother and the ones he did have were mostly blurry. He couldn't quite make out her features, like words on the tip of his tongue.

He wanted to pay his respects and get back quickly before Guan Shan noticed he was gone. He didn't want Guan Shan walking around the estate and seeing things he wasn't allowed to see; he would be in serious trouble - trouble He Tian wasn't sure he could get him out of. The thought made him shudder and he wrapped his jacket tight around his shoulders.

"Cold?" He Tian whipped his head around. To his surprise, Guan Shan appeared from around a tree, his freckles standing out in the morning light. He looked beautiful. "That's why you should dress warmer, dumbass."

He Tian smiled slightly at Guan Shan's attire. He too was only wearing his pyjamas and a black jacket. "Did you follow me here?" He asked, his voice soft.

Guan Shan shrugged one shoulder and came to stand next to He Tian, taking in their surroundings. "You did this last time we came here too: disappeared. Just seeing where you went this time, not that I care or anything." Guan Shan pulled his jacket tighter around himself and nodded in front of them. "Who's this?"

He Tian turned and looked at the grave in front of them, his face softening into an almost sorrowful look. "My mother." He didn't mean to but his voice came as a whisper. Guan Shan turned to look at He Tian for a moment before turned back to the grave. He let out a heavy sigh and bowed low and respectfully, much to He Tian's surprise.

"Hello Auntie," Guan Shan started. "I didn't mean to disturb your time with your son, I'm sorry. I'll leave, but first I want to say something; your son is annoying and clingy but he's also one of the top students in school and he's a good, loyal friend. You have a good son to be proud of. I promise to help him stay on track and not fu- mess up in school; I'll take care of him. Goodbye."

Guan Shan stood up straight and avoided eye contact with He Tian, his cheeks tinted red. He Tian felt his heart racing and an overwhelming sense of love for the boy in front of him made his knees buckle. He Tian grabbed Guan Shan by the shoulders and pulled him into a hug. At first, Guan Shan stood still and stiff but relaxed into the hug and put his hand on the back of He Tian's neck in a comforting manner.

"Thank you." He Tian whispered.

Guan Shan cleared his throat. "You, uh, can take all the time you need. I'll go tell those shit heads you went for a run or something."

He Tian pulled away slightly and put his hand on the side of Guan Shan's face, brushing his thumb across Guan Shan's cheekbone. "Will you come with me again to see her? I've never introduced anyone to her before."

Cheeks still red, Guan Shan nodded hesitantly before he reached up and swiped away a stray tear He Tian hadn't noticed. "You wanna get some breakfast?" He whispered.

He Tian smiled slightly. "Sure, I'm starved."

As they turned to walk away, Guan Shan stopped and walked to his right. He Tian watched in confusion before he saw Guan Shan walk over to his mother's grave with a white rose and place it on the surface. He Tian felt tears stinging his eyes before he wiped them away. As they left, He Tian looked back at his mothers grave and realised something. He no longer felt alone, but instead he felt loved.

Hey guys!

It's been a while but I hope you can understand why. I needed to take a break after writing the last two chapters. They hit home a little too hard.

But I'm back now!

Stay safe, my Angels.
