One Day

Mo Guan Shan peeked his head around the curtain for the fifth time and glanced at the never ending line of people waiting for them to go out. His head swam as he thought back to the day the four of them had promised to be in a band when they were older. It seemed that had only happened yesterday.

A hand brushed from one shoulder to the other and he felt someone's breath tickle his ear, causing him to shiver. "Relax, Little Mo. Once this signing is done, we can all go home and you can make me some beef stew." He Tian leaned against him slightly.

Guan Shan shrugged him off and closed the curtain. "Who's idea was it to sign autographs anyway? I want to go home and sleep. This shit is beginning to be too much now. Tours, meet and greets, song writing, a different stage every night. I'm fucking exhausted."

"Tonight and tomorrow are our last nights so untwist your panties, Sour Puss." He Tian pouted mockingly at him and caught Guan Shan's swinging fist.

"Fuck you, Chicken Dick."

Before Guan Shan could insult him more, Jian Yi bounced over with Zhan Zheng Xi trailing behind. "Come, come! It's time to say hello to all of my lovely fans."

"They're not just here for you, you know." Zheng Xi rubbed the back of his neck as he tugged on Jian Yi's shirt, trying to stop him from running all over the place. "Calm down otherwise you'll get sweaty."

Their manager came over and told them it was time for the signing and directed them in a line towards the curtains and they waited for someone on the other side to announce their arrival. He Tian, who was standing in front of Guan Shan, turned his head and stared at the redhead.

Guan Shan raised an eyebrow, his annoyance growing. "What?"

He Tian raised his hand and ruffled Guan Shan's hair. "Try and hold on for a little longer. It's only a few hours long then you can go home to your bed. Don't disappoint your fans, Little Momo." He turned back around and Guan Shan released a deep breath, trying to expel the annoyance he had been feeling all day.

The loud cheering of the crowd made Guan Shan's heart leap into his throat as it did every time they went on stage. In order, Zheng Xi, Jian Yi, He Tian and Guan Shan left the curtains and  walked to a long table and took their seats. On the table were four pens, lots of paper for them to sign if their fans hadn't brought anything with them, and water bottles. Security were dotted around, many trying to control the line of people who were trying their best to see their four favourite people. Guan Shan closed his eyes and listened to what they were saying.

"Oh my God! There he is! I can see Jian Yi. His hair looks so smooth!"

"Woah, Zhan Zheng Xi is even more handsome in person."

"Who's your favourite? Mine's He Tian. I love him so much."

"Mine's actually Mo Guan Shan. I love his red hair; it's so unique. He's super good looking too."

Guan Shan shifted in his seat and glanced at He Tian, who was watching him with a small smile. Guan Shan grumbled to him quietly. "Now I know how you felt in middle school. How did you deal with this many girls daily?"

"I was a little pre-occupied with a certain redhead to even think about anyone else."

Guan Shan didn't respond as the security guard let the first fan through to their table. They started with Zhan Zheng Xi and moved onto Jian Yi. Then more people came in, each of the boys dealing with one fan at a time. The ratio from boys to girls was 2:7. Even then it was mainly a girl's father that had accompanied them. A few of the girls had to be moved on by security for hanging around for too long but everything sailed smoothly.

After signing and giving a small smile to a blushing girl, Guan Shan looked up and the line and instantly made eye contact with a guy that seemed to be around their age. He had short, dark brown hair and was wearing black jeans with a black hoodie and Guan Shan could see a white shirt poking out from underneath. He stared at Guan Shan with intense eyes and lifted the corner of his mouth slightly. Guan Shan felt a shiver run down his spine and he glanced at He Tian before looking down at the table.

He signed some more papers, books and pictures before a blank piece of paper was slammed down in front of him. He looked up and it was the guy that had been staring at him. Guan Shan swallowed nervously before looking at the other boys. They had all turned to watch. The guy had walked straight past all of them and headed straight for Guan Shan, which strangely had never happened before.

He Tian tensed up beside him and Guan Shan looked back up at the male standing before him. Everything that happened after that was played through Guan Shan's eyes in slow motion. The guy slid the paper in front of Guan Shan and smiled at him.

"I'm your biggest fan, Mo Guan Shan. I'll be your only fan forever." The guy grabbed Guan Shan's arm and pulled the startled redhead towards him before he pulled a small pocket knife out of his hoodie and thrust it towards Guan Shan. Scared and shocked screams could be heard around the room from fans that stood and watched the commotion. Security guards were rushing forwards to stop the man.

The knife stopped inches from Guan Shan's throat and he looked in shock as He Tian had grabbed the arm, glaring at the guy. Suddenly, security were on them instantly. They tackled the fan and placed him under arrest, removing the knife from him, all the while he was screaming for Guan Shan. The four boys were dragged out of the room and taken to their designated changing rooms. Their manager, security and their main team fussed over Guan Shan to see if he was alright.

Guan Shan felt numb to the situation, not having registered what had happened yet. He said nothing as he let himself be dragged around like a rag doll. He Tian refused to go into his own room and forced his way into Guan Shan's room, ushering everyone out. Once they were all gone, He Tian locked the door and rushed over to Guan Shan's side, who had just been standing in the middle of the room with a shocked look on his face.

He Tian took Guan Shan's face in his hands and moved them down, as if searching for any type of injury. He Tian got to Guan Shan's arm where the guy had grabbed him when he heard the first sob. He was back to Guan Shan's face instantly and watched as the reality of what had just happened sunk in.

He Tian wrapped his arms around Guan Shan's neck and pulled him into a hug. Guan Shan gripped He Tian's shirt tight and he started shaking, his mind replaying the scene over and over again. He Tian stroked his hair and rubbed circles on his back as he let Guan Shan cry. When Guan Shan's tears came to a stop, He Tian pulled him back and wiped his face with his thumbs.

"No more signing, no show tomorrow. You're coming home with me right now and I don't give a shit about what anyone else says." He Tian walked towards the door.

Guan Shan gripped the back of He Tian's shirt as he wiped a stray tear with the back of his arm. With a quiet and wobbly voice, he spoke. "Thanks, He Tian. You saved my life. Literally."

He Tian walked back towards Guan Shan and kissed his forehead lightly. "If you weren't alive, Mo Guan Shan, I would have no other reason for living." He placed his hand in Guan Shan's and walked them to the door. "Let's go home."
