A trial has started. For me. They think I was shirking my duties. Can't I even take a nap?! Gosh.

"Who cares about those pathetic souls anyway?" I spat out. "They're all dead in the first place, it doesn't really matter if they die a second time."

The entire council gives a collective gasp. If the situation wasn't so severe, I would have laughed. They were so synchronised that it would be the perfect choir.

Ultimately, the judge always has the final say.

"I hereby decree that the angel, Seonghwa, be removed from his job as angel. The marks of being an angel will thereby be removed. All those in denial of the listed punishment, please voice your opinion now."

Dead silent. The entire room is so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

"Very well. The decision has been made. The accused will be stripped of his wings. The punishment will be carried out now."

No! They can't remove my wings. If they do, I will essentially be a human, forced to live such a mundane life. I'm not going to let that happen.

Before anybody else can react, I turn and run out of the courtroom. Once I'm outside the doors, I spread my wings and fly towards the edge of heaven as quicker as I've ever done.

Cries of outrage erupt from the building I just left. I don't even need to turn around to know that the angels on guard duty today are coming after me, determined to make me pay the price. It's not going to be that easy. I'm not going down without a fight.

I dive downwards and into the streets of the soul city. There are many alleyways and hiding spots, so I have a better chance of making it out this way.
