That night rain was falling, only street lights were glowing. Mehar was walking alone through the middle of the road bare feet. Her henna covered feet were paining for walking a lot but she cared less. Her heavy white gold anklets were irritating her.
Looking back every now and then, she decreased her pace when she felt no one was following her but that was her undoing.
She was holding her Afghani traditional dress with her hands but seemed it was hard to carry its weight for long. The traditional white gold Kuchi jewelry was adding more weight to her already heavy dress.
The heavy headpiece and the heavy choker were disturbing her to no end. She felt the need to throw them off and fill her exhausted lungs but she knew that she had to run. It's been one hour that she was running and now she felt to walk. In the haste to run away as soon as she got some privacy, she forgot to take off her jewelry.
The rain had drenched her completely and it made it even worse to walk in that heavy dress but she had to. Tripping few times, she managed to walk few miles away; fear was gnawing in the pit of her stomach since she was walking in a complete deserted area in the midnight. Mehar also knew that it wasn't hard for her family to find her but if Aurakzai family got the news then it wouldn't be hard to find her if she hide in any part of the world. Still she wanted to run.
Finding a tree, she sat beside it and took deep breaths to calm her nerves and to fill her lungs.
How life changed for her, she was still in shock.
