she sighed heavily,
kicking the rocks beneath her feet.
the day was gloomy and the rain was bound to start pouring anytime soon.
but it didn't matter.
the rain would've been comforting in a moment like this.
the separation from george was beginning to take a toll on poor y/n.
this christmas break was meant to last longer than the ones before,
and she was stuck at hogwarts.
there was just something about him that made her feel safe.
at home.
and without him,
the separation anxiety would kick in and she'd feel lost without him around.
she was happy for him,
of course she was.
she knew she'd be the worst girlfriend if she wasn't happy for him being at home and happy with his family.
y/n just wished she could be there and watch him do what he does best;
be the life of the party.
at least she was still lucky enough to lay by his side at the end of the night when it mattered most.
the thought made her smile.
to see george laughing and smiling with his family surrounding him,
the sweat beading at his body while he put on a show to keep everyone laughing.
the rain began to tatter at her body,
and she knew it was time to return back to the dorm.
back to the empty room that echoed with each footstep.
the rain began to pick up as she trailed back inside,
her body soon drenched with rainwater.
she giggled to herself for having poor timing as she walked in the front door,
being careful not to leave a trail of water behind her.
she hummed to avoid the silence in the corridors,
making way to the common room where george and her shared their best memories.
she opened the door,
her heart skipping several beats.
she watched him turn on his feet and smile brightly,
"you look like you need a hug,"
george laughed as their bodies collided,
their arms holding each other tight.
"god i missed you,"
he mumbled against the warmth of her skin,
closing his eyes to absorb this beautiful moment as her scent settled into his lungs all over again.
"i missed you more my love,"
she nodded as she felt his thumb caress the small of her back slowly.
y/n pulled back and cupped his face in her hands,
thanking whoever was above for bringing him back sooner than she had intended.
they met in the middle,
and their kiss was just as passionate as the first one they ever shared.
his hands messed with the girls wet hair before pulling back and eyeing the clothes that stuck to her body.
"and you're wet because...?"
"because i got caught in the rain missing my idiot boyfriend,"
she joked as he snaked his arms around her waist,
pulling her closer once again.
"don't gotta miss me anymore. i'm here to stay,"
"promise?"
"promise."
their lips guided their way to each other once again,
and she felt right back at home.
***
they laid in bed together for the rest of the day,
listening to the sounds of the rain just outside their window and giggling at his jokes.
she laid against his chest and smiled to herself,
feeling his index finger trace circles down her back.
"i love you,"
y/n spoke with a turn to her head,
their eyes locking.
his lips turned into a smile as he pressed them against hers gently,
speaking just above a whisper.
"i love you back,"
he returned before continuing his thought,
"next holiday break, you're coming with me."
"sounds good to me."
