"hello,"
she smiled as she appeared in front of ron as his class ended.
his once bored and tired look brightened at the sight of her,
his smile now growing.
"hey love,"
he greeted and wrapped an arm around her and pulled her close.
"how was your monday?"
he asked.
"pretty good. yours?"
"awful. this homework stuff should be considered a cruel punishment!"
y/n laughed,
"do you want me to help you catch up this weekend?"
"would you?"
"yeah, i don't mind. i'm all caught up."
"oh you're the best girlfriend ever, y/n!"
"you're just now realizing?"
they laughed together before entering the great hall,
taking a seat for their dinner.
soon dumbledore took to the front and began explaining the triwizard tournament,
everyone gasping with excitement.
then came in the beauxbatons.
the girls, beautiful and magestic, caught everyone's attention.
especially rons.
"bloody hell..."
he mumbled,
staring at them with a look y/n had never seen before.
one she had never been on the receiving end of.
y/n was never the jealous type.
so feeling the random burn in the middle of her chest came as quite a surprise.
she then realized these girls were way out of rons reach.
and he'd never disrespect her like that.
he valued their relationship.
so as quickly as the feeling came,
it disappeared.
the school soon began to eat and y/n turned her head occasionally to talk to her friends,
her laughs loud and bright.
"hi! i'm juliette,"
the girl in the blue uniform spoke from behind ron,
sticking her hand out.
her accent was noticeable,
but she spoke great english.
the boy flushed,
"ron weasley."
their hands connected to shake.
"i was wondering if you could show me around the school?"
"oh!"
ron exclaimed and scratched the back of his neck,
"i'd love to!"
"great. see you in five,"
she winked and walked back to where her friends sat.
ron turned and laughed,
all of his friends patting him on the back and high fiving him.
y/n sat frozen,
feeling completely invisible.
ron finally laid eyes on her and shook his head,
"it's just a tour!"
"i know,"
she shrugged and continued eating slowly.
"you're not mad, are you?"
"why would i be mad?"
"i don't know.."
"i'm not mad. just don't confuse the poor girl,"
she laughed,
making him smile and breathe normally again.
***
friday finally arrived,
and everyone was excited to spend their weekend in hogsmeade.
except for y/n.
ron and juliette seemed to have gotten closer,
which brought out an ugly jealousy in her.
she hated feeling this way,
but couldn't quite fight it.
the way y/n suddenly became invisible to ron when she appeared made her furious.
and it worsened with each passing day.
"hey,"
y/n smiled as best as she could at ron who was walking out of class,
juliette oddly close by his side.
"hey!"
"are we still going up to the three broomsticks today?"
"oh! i forgot i told juliette i'd show her around hogsmeade. you know, give her another little tour. but you can come if you want!"
y/n stood there,
swallowing the anger that piled in her throat.
"i'll pass. thanks though,"
she muttered and walked away,
the frustration making her limbs ache.
"hey y/n! are you coming to hogsmeade with us?"
hermione asked as viktor stood next to her.
"no, not today. you guys have fun though! can you bring me back some sugar quills please?"
she asked and fished in her robes for the money,
"here."
"oh no don't worry about it, y/n! i'll buy them for you."
y/n's eyes watered at the gesture,
her terrible week beginning to catch up with her.
"thank you hermione,"
y/n smiled and hugged her.
once they were on their way,
y/n trailed back up the common room and sat in a random chair,
her foot bouncing with annoyance.
"idiot. i hope he spills butterbeer all over himself,"
she mumbled beneath her breath and sighed,
laying her head down.
the exasperation that had been pumping through her veins these past few days were beginning to take a toll on her mental health and wellbeing,
it was exhausting.
her eyes fluttered close,
and soon she drifted off.
***
she quickly woke up to the sounds of the gryffindor kids piling in back from their hogsmeade trip.
"here you go,"
hermione spoke and handed y/n the bag of her sugar quills and a few extra goodies.
"i got you a couple more things. i figured you were having a hard week so."
"you're truly a blessing to his earth, hermione. have i told you that?"
she smiled and turned on her feet to leave.
then it was just y/n alone again.
after a couple more minutes,
ron came in the portrait with juliette,
the two laughing and smiling at each other.
"oh hey. you're here! i was looking for you."
y/n avoided his gaze and ignored his words,
gathering her stuff.
"i'll just leave now. au revoir ron."
juliette was gone.
it was now just y/n and ron.
the girl hurried to her feet and brushed past ron,
leaving him confused.
"are you not going to help me with my homework?"
she turned on her feet and scoffed,
"you can fail for all i care. why don't you ask juliette? i'm sure she'd love to help you!"
"y/n wait-"
she stormed off and found her bed,
collapsing in it.
"rough day?"
ginny asked at her side.
"definitely. you too?"
"oh yeah. boys are just stupid gits, aren't they?"
y/n snickered,
"huge gits."

ron stood in the middle of the common room,
confused and sticky.
he had spilled butterbeer all over himself and was paying the price of it now that it was dried.
but he was more worried about y/n.
he wasn't quite sure why she was so angry.
he waited around for her,
hoping she'd return and he could talk to her.
but as the hours ticked by,
there was no sign of her return.
he pressed his lips together and trudged up to his dorm,
the guilt weighing him down.
***
he was up bright and early,
waiting in the common room for her to come down.
once he saw her bouncing down,
her beautiful glow illuminating the room,
he felt at ease.
but it all soon faded as she walked out the portrait without a word to him.
he sat speechless,
and a little hurt.
"oi, hermione. what's wrong with y/n? why won't she talk to me?"
"maybe because you've been ignoring her to spend time with juliette,"
hermione explained with a hint of blame at her tone.
"oh...oh i messed up."
"she's really upset, ronald."
he jumped to his feet and began to chase after her,
soon seeing her sitting in the courtyard.
he walked up to her and practically cornered her,
forcing her to talk to him.
"y/n, please talk to me."
she stood to her feet,
trying to keep her guard up but her eyes were bloodshot.
there was no hiding her hurt.
"what do you want me to say?"
"i want you to tell me what's wrong!"
"oh nothings wrong at all, ronald! everything's perfect around here."
"you're so hard headed,"
he sighed.
"well since i'm so hard headed go be with juliette! i'm sure she's easy to talk to!"
"you know what, maybe i will!"
he evened with her tone,
watching as the hurt pooled in her eyes in extreme amounts from his irrational words.
he wasn't quite sure why he allowed his temper to say that,
he didn't mean it at all.
"perfect,"
she trembled and pushed past him.
"no, y/n, come back i don't mean that,"
he breathed out and pulled on her wrist gently.
she turned around to face him again and could see the regret plastered all over his face.
"i don't want her, y/n."
"sure about that?"
"positive! more than positive! she's nothing to me. you-you are the one i want. you're the one i want to lay with at night. you're the one i want to spend every holiday with. you're the one i want to spend the rest of my life with. not her! at all!"
y/n went silent at the words but let the tears fall,
the guilt twisting ron's insides.
"i'm so sorry, y/n, that i made you feel neglected and like i don't want you. you're the only one for me. and i'm gonna do better at proving that to you. even if that means cutting off every girl i know, i'll do it! because i can't lose you. i won't."
y/n let out a shaky breath and leaned her head against his chest,
listening to his heart thump.
"i don't want you to do that. she's just so much prettier than me and it scares me,"
y/n admitted for the first time.
ron pulled her back by her shoulders and wiped away her tears,
tucking a strand of hair behind her ear and caressing her soft cheek.
"there is nobody in this lifetime who is as beautiful as you, y/n. you are the only person i'll ever want. the whole time her and i hung out, i talked about you. because i am so-so obsessed and in love with you i can't help but tell everyone."
"i'm sorry ron. i should've trusted you."
"don't apologize. this is my wrongdoing, y/n. i should've set boundaries and never stopped making you feel important. i apologize from the bottom of my heart."
she nodded and pulled him in around his neck,
his warmth soothing away all the hurt and pain in her body.
"i love you, y/n."
"i love you more."
he pulled back and quickly grabbed her by her face,
connecting their lips.
y/n laughed at his playful antics and stood glued to him for a while.
she pulled back and shook her head,
giggling.
the sound was music to rons ears.
"i think you have some homework to catch up on."
"you're right. i do. but i'd rather not,"
he shrugged and picked her up off her feet.
she let out a loose laugh as she wrapped her legs around his torso,
feeling like the only girl in the world.
