cedric stared at the girl before him with a smile so wide,
it nearly hurt his cheeks.
"does it look okay?"
y/n asked as she turned to face him,
pulling at the sleeves of her new shirt.
cedric loved this color on her,
and he felt himself nodding eagerly.
"you look amazing."
the boy kept y/n on such a high pedestal simply because she deserved it.
y/n was alluring;
pleasing to the eye,
and her body was nearly sculpted to fit the image of a goddess.
cedric found himself completely stunned by her every single day,
and it had been that way since their first meeting.
"are you sure?"
"positive, love. you look beautiful."
y/n turned to face him with a gentle smile,
then nodded her head in thanks.
she then tore the shirt off to reveal her bare chest that sent cedric breathless.
the light basked against her flawless skin,
showcasing the etching of her perfect curvatures and freckles in her skin.
cedric was a man of many blessings,
but none of them could ever amount to the blessing before him.
y/n l/n,
life's greatest gift.
she laid beside cedric in the quiet dorm of his,
humming just light enough to fill the silence.
cedric leaned over and laid his head to her chest,
but laid his hand beneath her shirt to rest against her abdomen.
his hand laid there,
always still and never venturing further,
because it was simply pure and far from sexual.
cedric just loved the feeling of her silk skin to his,
and found himself craving the security of it all.
so there they laid,
their hearts beating in sync,
and their lives content.
y/n ran her fingers through cedric's hair then sighed softly.
y/n rarely ever made that noise,
and when she did cedric was quick to know she was upset.
"what's troubling you, my love?"
"do you ever worry about...us?"
he turned to look at her,
kissing her palm slowly and out of habit before speaking,
"what about us?"
"that we'll like...i don't know. forget it."
"no, no. talk to me."
cedric knew the girl troubled to voice her thoughts.
she could never find the right words to express her feelings and when she did,
it always came out worse than she intended.
cedric was practiced in this and knew not to read too deeply into her words,
though it pained him to see her so frustrated.
but instead of forcing her to struggle through her own mind,
cedric brought her parchment and a quill.
"write it down. everything, okay? then i'll come back and read it. and we can talk."
she nodded and cedric watched the gratuity flood her lovely eyes.
he trailed out of his dorm and into the common room,
where he attempted to distract his mind through a game of gobstones with arthur brooks.

and no later than twenty minutes y/n called out for him.
he rushed up to meet her in his bed again and took the parchment from her hands,
where tears could be found staining the paper.
"you're a great boyfriend. and you've so proved it by letting me do this. because you know. you know i find it easier to write it than speak it. and you know me so well, ced. better than anyone ever! and i know you like the back of my hand. i like to think we were made for one another. you know, like soulmates. you know the greek tale? of zeus cutting the humans in half, thus creating said soulmates? you're my literal other half. and i don't think i'd be the person i am today without you. you are who i want to spent forever with! and that used to scare me until we met. now i'm worried i'm not your forever. that after school, you'll leave me behind. and i can't imagine my life without you, cedric. it hurts to even picture. i can't imagine actually living it. what i'm saying is, i'm so insecure."
cedric felt his heart wringing with pain as he reached the end of the letter.
he looked back up at y/n and began to wonder how a girl so beautiful, enticing, and angelic could be insecure.
then he realized it had nothing to do with her looks,
but her lack in faith.
faith for their future.
"y/n...you're right, you know."
"about you wanting to leave me?"
"no, not about that. you're entirely wrong about that. but, about us being soulmates. my heart beats with and for you. it belongs to you. i have been my best self and so incredibly happy since we've met, y/n. i could never leave you behind, because my soul is entwined with yours. forever, and even more after that. i've devoted my life to you, y/n. i love you. i love you like this, and i'll love you until our lives run short. but even then, y/n, i'll meet you in the afterlife."
she laughed once then buried her head to his chest,
squeezing him as tight as she could without hurting him.
cedric hugged her back and reassured her through the small praises that left his lips.
y/n had showed cedric how lovely life could be with the right person.
fortunately for him,
he found his forever.
and here she laid in his arms,
with a smile.
cedric felt as if his job was complete.
y/n was smiling,
and there was no greater sight than that.
