"hey babe,"
the girl smiled brightly as she ran a hand over draco's neck,
taking a seat next to him.
"hey,"
he replied shortly,
not looking up from his spot in the book.
"you okay?"
"yeah."
y/n drew her hand off of him slowly and scratched the back of her neck,
dracos eyes focused on the same word.
"did-did i do something?"
"no,"
he answered before picking up his books and walking directly towards the exit of the library.
"the hell?"
she whispered to herself,
racking her mind with possibilities of what the issue was.
but nothing seemed to come up.
she was more than positive she didn't do anything wrong,
his quidditch practices were going well,
his marks were relatively high,
and life for the boy was good for all she knew.
y/n pondered for a moment longer before walking out the library in search of malfoy.
she saw him sulking through the dungeon,
kicking whatever was beneath his foot.
"can we talk?"
he turned his head and y/n watched him roll his eyes at the sight of her.
"i'm busy."
"busy doing what? feeling sorry for yourself?"
she snapped,
feeling the sting of her heart worsen.
he turned to face her again,
a snarl on his face.
"don't pretend you know anything about me."
"i know enough,"
she retorted,
before continuing,
"what is wrong with you?"
"did you ever think maybe i just don't wanna talk to you? that i'm bored of your company? that you're too suffocating?"
y/n was more than offended by now,
the words struck a different nerve and made her stomach twist in many knots.
"i have done nothing but support you and been there for you when no one else was. i can't believe you,"
she spoke rather calmly but through gritted teeth,
making draco a bit unsettled.
he wasn't sure why those words had left his mouth at that moment,
but the damage was done.
he watched at the only person that believed in him turned her back and walked away,
his hand reaching for her.
"i'm sorry."
"i bet you are. you make me sick,"
she spat acidly,
pulling her hand out of his grasp.
"i-i don't know what's going on with me."
"i couldn't tell you. i don't know anything about you, right?"
draco could sense the hurt in her voice,
and watched at the tears rose but she quickly stormed away before they fell,
leaving him by himself once again.
he couldn't understand himself.
why was he,
yet again,
pushing away the girl that loved him?
and it hurt him just as much,
he had never loved anyone like he did y/n.
part of him wanted to run and find her,
hold her in his arms and love her like she had never been loved.
but the other part of him didn't want to see her at all.
it was confusing,
and this constant battle was wearing him down.
he walked into the common room and sat on his bed,
sighing.
it was a restless night,
he tossed and turned,
fighting with his own conscious.
he closed his eyes firmly and began to think about the girl,
and he started to miss her.
he missed her touch,
her laugh,
the way she lit up the room with her smile,
the way she tasted.
he sat up and looked at the time,
hoping he'd be able to find her before she called it a night.
he traveled the castle before finding her in the library,
asleep.
he stood there for just a hair longer,
watching as her slightly opened mouth let small snores escape.
her hair fell into her face,
the pages of the book acting as her pillow.
she looked beautiful basking in the dim lights of the library,
fast asleep without a care in the world.
he felt terrible.
he didn't want to wake her,
to bring her back into this harsh reality.
but he had to tell her what was on his mind.
"hey,"
he whispered,
shaking her body carefully.
her eyes widened and she sat up,
wringing her neck of the tense muscles.
she took in a deep breath and looked at draco,
her eyes puffy and full of sleep.
has she been crying?
of course she has, idiot.
without saying a word,
she gathered her stuff and was setting off to leave before he stopped her.
"let me talk, please."
"there's nothing to talk about. it's clear you want to break up with me, and i've accepted that."
"break-break up? no, no. why would i want to break up? i don't want to break up, y/n."
she folded her arms across her chest and felt the weight on her chest increase with each painful word between them.
"i'm not sticking around to give you what you want and need when i get treated like vermin."
"i'm sorry, y/n. you know i love you."
"no, actually, i don't."
he grabbed her hand,
placing it to his lips.
she felt her heart flutter before pulling it back from his grasp.
the silence fell upon them as he racked his mind with what to say next.
"i'm scared,"
he admitted with a small quiver to his voice.
"of what?"
she spoke softly this time,
the sadness clouding his eyes.
"you leaving me."
"draco.. we've talked about this."
"i know we have. and i trust you completely but i don't trust myself. i'm gonna push you away until you feel stuck, and you're gonna leave. and i won't be able to do anything about it."
"if you would just let me in,"
y/n whispered as she stepped closer to him,
placing her hands against his face and rubbing circles on his cheek with her thumb.
"i'm trying,"
he spoke ever so softly,
his hands falling on top of hers.
"i'm not going anywhere."
"i'm sorry that i treat you so bad. you don't deserve that. i'm going to be better for you."
she smiled and nodded her head,
inching closer to the boy.
"we're gonna be okay."
"yeah, we're gonna be okay,"
draco repeated,
feeling y/n's lips brush his.
he pulled her a little closer,
and attached his lips to hers.
it was bittersweet,
but she enjoyed the warmth that surrounded her body.
he yearned for more,
finally feeling like he belonged somewhere for once.
he tilted her head to the side and left a small,
but noticeable,
mark on her collarbone.
"people are gonna see that,"
she spoke softly through breaths,
making him grin against her skin.
"good. let them see,"
was all he said before pushing her against the bookshelf carefully,
lifting her shirt above her head.
she wrapped her arms around his neck and let him guide the way,
her quiet moans making his skin rise.
his finger trailed up her inner thigh,
the hair on her body standing.
everything inside of her was burning with tension and passion,
her body practically begging for the boy.
he pulled back from her body for a moment before staring her in her eyes,
the intimidation washing over her.
"i love you."
she batted her eyelashes and kissed his lips,
"i love you too."
the library was soon filled with quiet,
but passionate,
moans.
y/n rolled her head back in pleasure,
closing her eyes.
draco's hand took its place on her neck carefully,
"look at me."
she opened her eyes and looked at him,
the angst taking over.
they soon both reached their highs,
pulling the clothes back on over their bodies.
"i'll-i'll see you tomorrow,"
she smiled a bit shyly and turned on her feet to walk away,
but he grabbed her hand and pulled her back into his chest.
"getting rid of me already, are you?"
she laughed and ran a smooth hand down his shoulder,
"it's late."
"so?"
"i don't want to get in trouble."
draco snickered and rolled his eyes playfully,
"trouble? like we weren't just-"
she quickly placed a finger to his lips and shushed him,
giggling carefully.
he laughed along with her and placed a kiss to her forehead,
lingering there for a moment.
"i'm really sorry about today, y/n. i'm gonna be better at this. i promise. i won't lose you."
"i know. i'll be here."
they exchanged yet another smile,
draco taking her to her common room.
"are you alright? you're limping,"
draco questioned,
her eyes darting up at him.
she shook her head,
"i'm sore."
he snickered and kissed her goodnight,
making way back to his own bed.
he laid in bed yet again,
closing his eyes and drifting off to sleep at the image of the girl he truly loved,
laying by his side for the rest of their lives.
