"you okay?"
fred's question rang through the air as y/n's feet swung off the bench.
she looked to her left and watched as he got closer,
giving a soft smile.
"yeah. just another stupid boy, right?"
"yeah,"
fred agreed and took a seat on the bench next to her.
"what happened to us, y/n?"
the girl sighed and shrugged,
"i don't know, freddie. things have been so mad since-"
"since we broke up?"
"yeah.."
he nodded and looked at the sky that gleamed with twinkling stars,
"why is that we ended things again?"
y/n sighed and looked over at him,
"you know why."
"just wanted to hear you say it for once, y/n."
"hear me say that i fucked it up for us?"
he finally turned his head to her and gave her a half smile,
"you're too hard on yourself. always have been. even as kids."
"well...least you've got me figured out."
"i wouldn't say figured out. just been in love with you for years now. kind of start to notice certain things after a while."
"i'm sorry, fred..."
she whispered with a quiver to her voice.
fred shook his head and leaned back against the bench,
"don't be. you did what you had to."
"do you hate me?"
fred scoffed and grabbed her hands,
"hate you? y/n, i could never hate you. i'll always love you, yeah?"
"yeah?"
"oh definitely. even when you're old and wrinkly, looking a mess!"
she giggled and blinked,
letting the tears fall.
"oh, fred. you deserve the world."
"what do i need the world for?"
fred's thumb began to caress hers like it once did when they were a couple.
they'd lay in bed for hours,
their bodies coiled as one and their hands laced together.
he'd caress her thumb so lovingly and whisper words of endearment,
telling her "you're the only thing i'll ever need in this world, y/n l/n."
she missed it.
"do you ever...miss us, fred?"
"more than anything,"
he smiled softly.
she nodded her head at the words and leaned a head on his shoulder.
"i miss us too."
"suppose it was a right person, wrong timing kind of thing?"
"yeah...that's one way to put it."
"we were young and stupid, y/n."
"were? you mean to tell me we're no longer stupid?"
she giggled.
fred couldn't help but laugh along with her,
with the nod of his head.
"fair play."
"i'll love you forever, fred."
"yeah...you're forever mine, y/n. even when you think you aren't,"
he winked playfully and wrapped an arm around her,
pulling her into his chest.
she sighed a heavy sigh and got comfortable in the signature smell of fred weasley.
"we'll be right back together, y/n, when the time is right. sound good?"
"i can't wait."

y/n adjusted the bag on her shoulder,
jet lagged and feet sore from the heels she so painfully wore everyday.
"have a good flight?"
the chauffeur asked,
opening the car door for her.
"yeah. feels good to be back in london,"
she smiled and slid inside the car,
finally relaxing at the feeling of cold leather against her skin.
she began to enjoy the scenery of london which she hadn't seen in five years,
ever since her graduating from hogwarts she up and left london to explore career options in america.
her mind seemed to trail throughout the years she spent abroad,
working day and night to keep her mind busy to avoid searching for whatever part of her was missing.

"we're here, miss l/n."
y/n's eyes opened as she let the years of nostalgia pour into her mind at once.
she climbed out of the car slowly and began making her way to an old memory of hers:
diagon alley.
she remembered it like it was yesterday.
meeting fred and the rest of his family.
she knew right then and there her life would never be the same again.

"ow!"
"watch where you're going!"
fred smiled,
helping an eleven year old y/n up.
"me? you were the one in the way,"
y/n sighed and brushed the dirt off her clothes.
"guess you're right. i'm fred weasley."
"y/n l/n."
"you a hogwarts student?"
"mhm. first year. you?"
"ah, me too. seems like we're off to a good start then, yeah? friends?"
y/n laughed and nodded her head,
"yeah alright. friends."

her heels clicked against the stone pavement,
the once colorful and bright diagon alley was now dark and gray,
still suffering from the reign of once very powerful death eaters.
she sighed and cleared her throat,
not quite sure what her next move was going to be.
but she had to get it out.

"you're a liar!"
fred yelled,
pointing his finger in y/n's face.
she laughed sarcastically,
"what? did your mates tell you that, hm? gonna let them keep running you around like that?"
"you're one to talk! letting your family run you the way they do! can't do anything without running it by them first, can you?"
"shut up! shut up!"
y/n yelled,
her palms connecting to his chest and pushing him back.
"tell me the truth! did you or did you not promise your father you'd stop seeing me for malfoy?"
"i did! okay?! i did!"
he stopped and stared at her,
the tears beginning to brim his eyes.
y/n wiped away the streaks of tears that laid on her face as she admitted it,
letting a dry sob out.
"...so you lied?"
"because i didn't know what else to do."
"you could've told me..."
"i love you, fred i don't-"
"please...just stop, yeah? you-you go be with malfoy."
fred took one last look at his beautiful girl,
wiped the stray tear away and swallowed the knot in his throat.
"goodbye, y/n."

the girl took in a deep breath at the memory,
remembering how young they had been.
the issue had seemed so huge at the time,
now it was nothing more than a mere memory.
y/n remembered the way they had been so in love.
holding hands, kissing, laughing every chance they got.
y/n kept every letter and gift fred ever got her.
she had never known a love like the one fred weasley was able to give her.
and even after years of their breaking up,
she still felt that hurt.
still regretted ever listening to her father and being with malfoy.
sometimes, against her better judgment, she'd reminisce on days they spent together in bed.
he'd hold her so close,
almost afraid to let go,
and press his lips to her forehead.
"you're amazing, did you know?"
"no tell me again,"
she'd laugh and pull the sheets their bodies were so tangled into closer to her chest.
"you are amazing! the most amazing woman i've ever met!"
she would giggle and shake her head,
"you're an animal, fred weasley."
"yeah? what kind?"
"mmm a lion! got the red hair and all."
"clever,"
he laughed loud and pulled her close,
his hand cupping her cheek.
their eyes interlocked for a while,
and fred admired everything there was about the girl in his arms.
his thumb would stroke her cheek,
and he'd nod,
"yeah. i'm whatever you want me to be, y/n."

her cheeks flushed at the thought,
wondering why all these memories were beginning to come to her once more.
more than usual.
until she came face to face with the joke shop.
"wow,"
she giggled at the sign and slowly walked inside.
"welcome to w-"
the boy stopped at the sight of y/n,
the air being caught in his throat.
she had matured now,
she was older.
and god she's even more beautiful.
"hi..."
she smiled with a wave.
"hey!"
"merlin, fred you look amazing!"
y/n laughed loosely.
"you too. always have been quite the looker."
"such a charmer,"
y/n smiled and felt her body become engulfed into his arms,
his natural scent making her eyes water.
"you came back.."
was all he could muster out,
so overwhelmed by the missing and yearning for his one and only.
"of course i did. you said when the time is right, yeah?"
she laughed with eyes full of happy tears.
"yeah, yeah,"
he nodded and finally pulled her in after years,
their lips connecting as one.
the missing piece of y/n was now complete,
and fred finally felt that spark of energy he had been missing since that day.
fred picked her up off her feet and smiled as her legs wrapped about his waist.
she then pulled back slowly,
looking at the boy who had matured and grown so much right before her eyes.
she ran a finger down his chiseled face and smiled,
"i've missed you so much, freddie."
"i'm here now. and i'm not going anywhere."
"promise?"
"promise. you're forever mine, remember?
