"i don't think you understand. him and i don't get along, at all!"
y/n protested to an irritable snape,
who answered with the shrug of his shoulder.
"i don't care for your childish likes and dislikes, l/n,
this isn't primary school. finish your project with mr diggory or fail."
she huffed and stormed out of the classroom,
seeing cedric diggory nearby.
"hey so...about this project."
"it's simply scholarly. that's it. okay?"
"right...when should we meet to work on it?"
"tomorrow at six in the library."
he nodded his head and disappeared from view,
leaving her to her own business.
"there you are!"
y/n breathed out as she linked her arm with luna's.
"everything okay?"
she asked in her soft tone.
"no! life is horrible. i have to work on a project with cedric diggory."
"the boy you don't like because he's stuck up?"
"the same one."
"maybe he's nicer than you think."
y/n rolled her eyes and laughed mockingly,
"yeah right! luna, you know as well as i do he's a tosser!"
***
y/n arrived at the library and checked her watch,
rolling her eyes.
"hey!"
cedric smiled and took his seat.
"glad you decided to show up."
"i'm sorry. i was-i got busy."
"i'm sure."
"i had to-"
"please, spare me the details. we're only partners, not best friends."
"i get the feeling you don't like me too well."
"oh really? what makes you say that?"
sarcasm was practically dripping from her mouth at this point,
making him smile.
"just a hunch."
"interesting. now, if you're done with the sob story, we have a lot of work to do."
"right."

the two began their research and laid their information out.
"the veritaserum is a considered a dangerous potion,"
cedric corrected,
pointing to the spot where she previously had it.
"oh. you're right,"
she nodded and moved it to its correct place.
"thank you."
he smiled and indulged into another book,
giving her more potions that were considered 'dangerous'
"alright. looks like we've got our organizer finished."
"o-organizer? i thought that was the actual project?"
y/n looked up at him and laughed,
"no, idiot. it's just the layout of our project."
"blimey y/n..."
the girls heart did a weird flutter at the sound of her name leaving his mouth.
she had never heard it before in that tone.
"well do you wanna pass?"
"of course."
"then trust me."
"i do. it was just a lot of work for an...organizer."
y/n rolled her eyes,
"yeah yeah. get over it, diggory."
she collected her belongings and began to walk out before he called,
"same time tomorrow?"
"yeah. sure,"
she nodded and left him behind.

cedric watched her leave the library,
still grinning at their interactions.
he had never quite met a girl like y/n.
she was different,
but still similar to the people around them.
he liked how she wasn't afraid to be honest.
she didn't tip toe around him in fear of hurting his feelings,
she was straight forward.
and he adored that.
***
y/n and cedric continued their project in the library for the next week,
each day becoming a little more bearable than the last.
"y/n, can i ask you something?"
cedric asked as he placed a moving image of the potion on the poster board.
"what's up?"
"how come you didn't like me?"
"because you were an entitled, stuck up asshole."
he let out a dry laugh and looked up at her,
his eyes relishing over the sight of her.
"not afraid to hit me where it hurts, are you?"
"no. your ego could use some criticism."
they laughed together and y/n shook her head,
"i don't mean to be a bitch."
"i wouldn't say you're a bitch."
she went quiet for a minute before looking into his eyes,
her heart fluttering for what felt like the hundredth time.
"then what would you say?"
his mind racked with the things to say.
he had a million of adjectives to use to describe her.
hilarious. caring. gentle. truthful. smart. genius, even. delicate. admirable.
"i'd call you a bit of a heinous bitch,"
he shrugged jokingly.
she laughed loudly and laid her head on the table,
being reprimanded by madam pince.
"well! seems the student has become the master."
"glad i had you here to guide me,"
cedric winked.
"maybe you're not so bad after all, diggory."
"you're not so bad yourself."
she smiled up at him in thanks and scanned their organizer for the next piece.
"can you hand me the amortentia information?"
he handed her the slip of paper full of information,
and watched as she began to work away.
the way she focused made him swoon,
his eyes dreamingly gazing upon her.
"you look really good tonight,"
he said randomly.
she set down her quill and felt her heart race.
"me?"
"of course."
"thank you,"
she laughed shyly and picked her quill back up.
he smiled,
continuing to help her with the work.
"hey! back there, in the second row there should be a book on this. could you get it for me?"
y/n asked with a pleasing smile.
he walked to the second row of the shelves and mumbled to himself,
trying to find the book.
after a couple minutes,
cedric still couldn't found it.
y/n,
noticing his long absence,
walked over to where he was.
"need help?"
"please,"
he laughed.
y/n scanned the shelves,
cedric standing next to her and taking notice of her perfume.
it smelled just as good as she looked.
the girl was quickly becoming irresistible to him.
he wasn't sure how much longer he'd last.
"it might be back here,"
she whispered,
whether to herself or cedric,
and walked to the more secluded area of the library towards the back.
cedric followed behind,
his heart lusting after her.
"ah,"
she smiled and pulled it off the shelf,
waving it in front of his face.
"there we are."
he decided he couldn't hold it back any more than he already had,
so he did what felt right.
he moved in and with one quick move,
was connected with y/n at the lips.
he yearned for her taste,
feeling himself relax at the feeling of their lips moving in sync.
she dropped the book to the floor and ran her hands through his hair,
the chills rising throughout his body.
he pinned her up against the bookshelf carefully,
and placed a hand at the small of her back.
"cedric,"
she breathed out quietly.
he was becoming high off of her ecstasy.
he pulled away from her slowly and bared down into her soul,
her eyes darkening with the same lust that pumped through his veins.
she ran her hand from his neck,
down to his abdomen,
and finally stopped at his waist.
she toyed with his belt and grinned,
watching his eyes move from her to her hands.
"we have a project to finish, romeo,"
she joked and slithered out of his embrace and back to the table they held.
cedric followed behind her and sat back across from her,
their smiles still very evident.
"what are you smiling about?"
he asked her.
"i could ask you the same."
"that was quite the kiss back there, y/n. didn't know you had it in you."
"learn something new everyday."
***
cedric and y/n stood by snapes desk and handed in their project,
watching him examine it.
"yes....perhaps you two aren't completely incompetent after all. you're dismissed,"
snape nodded with the wave of his hand.
once cedric and y/n left the class,
she wrapped her arms around him.
"we did it!"
he hugged her back,
softening at the feeling of her body against his.
"we did it."
she pulled back,
sinking her teeth into her bottom lip.
"look y/n...i really like you and i don't want this to fade now that our project is over."
he admitted.
"oh don't tell me you've grown to care for me, diggory?"
she smiled lovingly and pulled him in by his tie,
her lips grazing his.
"i like you too, surprisingly."
he chuckled and closed the space,
their lips becoming one.
