"i can't be with you anymore fred,"
y/n spoke as strongly as she could,
the tears streaming down her cheeks.
fred took her hands in his,
a few tears of his own rising.
"please dont do this..."
"i don't have a choice,"
she whispered,
her lip trembling.
"yes you do! we-we can run away or-or something but y/n,"
he spoke quickly before pressing his forehead to hers,
"please don't leave me. don't let them break us apart."
fred held her face and wiped away the tears that came down continuously.
"we're meant to be together forever, remember?"
"fred...i can't. i-i can't. i won't have anywhere to go. they'll cut me off completely!"
she explained through choked sobs.
he sighed and kissed the top of her head,
pulling her into a hug.
"i'll love you forever, y/n. there's nothing in this world that could change that."
she couldn't reply,
her words were blocked by the knot in her throat as she cried into his chest.
she wanted nothing more than to stay with him forever.
"we'll meet again, my love. i promise,"
fred spoke,
his voice cracking slightly.
y/n sniffled and nodded,
"until then,"
she spoke and placed her hand on his cheek.
he took it and kissed her palm softly,
watching her turn on her feet and disappear for the time being.
***
y/n laid in the bed of her childhood home,
staring at the ceiling with an empty stare.
"why are you still in bed? get up! dinner is ready!"
her mother informed.
the girl rose out of bed slowly and looked into the mirror.
she felt her heart twinge with longing,
imagining fred was behind her with his arms wrapped around her waist.
she missed him so so much.
it had already been about four weeks since y/n last saw fred,
their last interaction becoming more painful to think about with each passing day.
she joined her family to eat,
y/n's little brother noticing her less than happy expression.
"are you okay?"
he asked under his breath.
y/n nodded,
"of course. pass the potatoes, will you?"
he handed them to her,
"did you do it then? break up with fred, i mean?"
she swallowed hard and nodded,
taking a sip of the liquid in her cup.
the boy sighed and shook his head,
"i'm sorry y/n. i tried to get them to change their minds! i told them all about how good he was to you and-and how he helped me to my classes when i first arrived!"
"i know. thank you so much. fred loved you like his own,"
y/n smiled as best she could.
the conversation fell as her parents joined the table.
"so, y/n, feeling alright?"
y/n answered with the shrug of her shoulders,
her parents being the people she liked least right now.
"oh don't tell me you're still upset over that boy! he was nothing but a distraction."
"and a blood traitor,"
her father finished.
"fred was good to me."
"well i'm sure you'll find plenty of young men to treat you well! you've still got your looks...for now at least."
"i don't want anybody else, mum. we were in love,"
y/n spoke with the hurt coursing through her veins.
her mother's loud laugh taunting her,
"love? really?"
"yes, really!"
"darling please,"
her father began,
"you're not old enough to know love. and he's no good for you."
"i don't care. i loved fred."
her mother scoffed.
"fine! i'm giving you the option to choose again. stay here or fred weasley?"
the way she said his name in such a disgusting tone made y/n angry.
"fred. it'll always be fred!"
she admitted.
"alright. you've made your choice then. pack your things and get out. we won't have a filthy blood traitor living in our house!"
y/n stood up,
pushing the chair back as she stormed to her room.
she cleaned out as quickly as she could and soon came marching down the stairs.
"where's my wand?"
she asked.
"oh... you mean this wand?"
her mother grimaced and showed the girl the wand she had owned since she was eleven,
broken in two.
y/n gasped softly.
"you're evil,"
she spat acidly,
pushing herself out of the door.
"y/n! wait! please!"
her little brother,
no older than twelve,
yelled for her.
y/n stopped and turned,
feeling the boys body collide with hers.
she cried a little harder and hugged her brother,
"here,"
he handed her the broken wand.
"i'm-i'm sure ollivander can fix it."
"thank you. be good, okay? do not let them get into your head. as soon as i can, i'll come back for you. okay?"
"okay."
y/n smiled as best as she could and turned on her feet,
leaving behind her home and family all in one night.
***
the knight bus dropped her off in diagon alley the next day,
leaving her to find a quick place to stay.
she had enough money on her to pay for a room,
and hopefully enough to fix her wand.
"one thing at a time,"
she mumbled to herself as she trailed up the stairs into the room,
sighing loudly.
she hurried to find the pieces of her wand and ran to ollivanders,
"y/n! eleven inches, aspen wood, unicorn hair. lovely to see you again."
ollivander smiled as the bell rang throughout the empty store.
y/n showed him the wand,
making him frown.
"oh dear...oh..how did this happen?"
"my mother. she-she snapped it. but you can fix it, can't you?"
"i'm afraid not...a wand that has suffered this amount of damage cannot be repaired."
her eyes slowly welded with tears,
"but not to worry! i'm sure we can find you something else. a better wand, yes?"
"i-i don't have much on me."
ollivander narrowed his eyes and nodded,
"we'll see what we can do."
***
y/n laid in the creaky bed,
her heart aching with each new beat it took.
she missed home.
she missed fred.
she missed her little brother.
nothing was right,
as of right now.
"at least you got a new wand,"
she mumbled to herself,
turning on her side to hold the teddy bear in her arms a little tighter.
fred had gifted her the said teddy bear months prior,
a smile pressing at y/n's lips at the memory."here,"
fred smiled and handed her the bear,
the sun beaming down on the top of their heads.
"what's this for?"
"just saw it and wanted to buy it for you. figured you'd keep it around for when i'm not, you know?"
y/n pressed a kiss to his cheek,
"thank you! i'll keep it around forever."
"good, you should!"
she laughed and laid in the grass with him,
the bear sitting between them.
***
y/n toured throughout diagon alley,
becoming rather friendly with the people around.
her stomach was beginning to twist in pain from barely eating.
but she managed.
"are you done with the paper? i like to do the crosswords,"
the man in front of her asked.
"of course. here,"
y/n handed him the paper and spun around in her chair to leave.
she began to mindlessly trail the streets,
her mind racing with thoughts and ideas.
she felt a cold pair of hands wrap around her arm,
making her flinch.
"can we help you dearie?"
the woman eerily asked,
her smile rather evil.
"i-uh-no-no thank you,"
she looked around her and realized she had wandered off into knockturn alley.
she ripped her arm out of the woman's grasp,
backing away slowly to return to diagon alley.
the woman laughed as y/n began to run,
looking back behind her occasionally in fear.
she turned the corner and bumped into a rather hard figure,
falling to the ground.
"shit!"
"y/n?"
the girl looked up to see fred weasley towering over her like he always had.
he pulled on her hand and picked her up to her feet.
"fred!"
she gasped and pulled him into her arms,
her heart racing while they stood there as one.
"what-what are you doing here?"
fred asked,
pulling away from her slowly.
the circles under his eyes were dark and almost painful.
"i uh...i got kicked out."
"what?! for what?"
she ran a smooth finger down his jawline and shrugged,
"you know how they are..."
"y/n what happened? how long have you been here? why didn't you write to me? you-you could have come to the burrow!"
she took in a deep breath and gave him a soft smile,
placing her hands on his shoulders.
fred's body went numb at her contact,
"y/n? y/n? is that you? oh!"
mrs weasley smiled and wrapped y/n in a tight hug,
making her smile.
"we were all worried sick about you and fred! poor boy hasn't come out of his room since holiday began!"
"mom,"
fred muttered,
his cheeks turning a noticeable shade of red.
"looks a bit peaky now. hm. anyways,"
she smiled as she turned her attention back to y/n,
"what brings you to diagon alley?"
"oh..i've just been staying in the leaky cauldron."
the words seemed to set mrs weasley off.
she went wild and demanded that y/n come stay at the burrow until time to return to hogwarts.
"mum, can i talk to y/n alone please?"
mrs weasley hesitantly walked away,
leaving fred and y/n alone again.
"what happened?"
"we argued and they told me to choose. so i did and i got kicked out. simple as that."
"you-you chose me?"
she nodded,
"yeah. i chose you."
***
y/n stretched and rolled over,
facing fred's back.
she blinked away the sleep in her eyes as she wrapped her arms around his torso,
nuzzling her face in his neck.
he stirred awake and the smile was instant,
"good morning,"
he spoke in a raspy voice.
y/n kissed his jawline and smiled back,
"good morning my love."
"sleep well?"
"oh definitely,"
she answered with a laugh and closed her eyes again,
enjoying this moment with him.
laying his hands laid on top of hers,
he spoke:
"i love you."
"i love you too."
"come on! get up! breakfast is ready!"
mrs weasley yelled throughout the house,
making them laugh.
y/n got to her feet and stretched,
feeling fred watch her.
"yes?"
she asked and turned around to stare at him,
his gaping expression making her giggle.
"you look...amazing."
"just because this is your shirt, isn't it?"
"oh definitely,"
he nodded and wrapped an arm around her waist,
kissing her neck playfully.
she laughed loudly and managed to escape from his embrace,
trying to run for the door.
but he was quicker.
he placed his hand at the door and stopped it from opening,
forcing her to stay in.
"why are you holding me hostage, weasley?"
she asked,
toying with the hem of his shirt.
"just want to spend a little more time with you. is that such a bad thing?"
"i suppose not."
he laughed and pressed his body closer to hers,
connecting their lips quickly.
"your mothers expecting us,"
y/n breathed out as fred trailed down her neck,
his fingertips tracing small circles on her inner thigh.
he pulled back with a grin stuck on his lips,
making her laugh.
"come on!"
"im glad you're here."
he nodded and pressed a kiss to her forehead.
"thank you for everything, fred, really."
"of course. i told you we'd meet again,"
he winked and placed one last kiss on her lips before skipping down to breakfast,
where y/n joined.
sitting around her new family,
y/n finally felt happy with life.
