"you alright there?"
y/n asked as she leaned against the door frame,
watching as harry hurried to untie his tie.
"i'm fine."
"seamus doesn't know what he's ta-"
"i said i'm fine, y/n!"
he yelled,
shocking the girl a bit.
she swallowed the retort that begged to slip past her lips,
and began to walk where he stood.
she then wrapped him in her arms for a couple minutes,
and kissed his cheek reassuringly.
"everything will be alright, harry. i'm here if you ever need me love."
he nodded and sent y/n on her way,
leaving her to sit in the common room and sift through her textbook pages.harry sat on the edge of his bed,
his hands pulling at his hair in frustration.
he wanted nothing more than for y/n to come back and hold him like she had just done.
his head that would spin and throb until he couldn't bear to think anymore would soon stop once y/n wrapped him tightly in her arms.
he missed hearing her hum so soothingly that it sometimes made him drift to sleep.
he wanted to lay with her and sink further into her embrace and scent,
knowing that all would be okay if she was there.
anything was possible if harry was at y/n's side,
he realized.
he mentally cursed himself for yelling at her like he had done.
but another part of him was still angry and didn't want to be bothered at all.
he wasn't sure what to do from here.
seek her and her refuge or let the self pity swallow him whole.
he decided and walked down to the common room with a sigh,
instantly setting eyes on y/n who was slouched over the textbook.
"...mercury going into retrograde zaps you of your energy,"
she repeated through her divinations work.
"y/n?"
instantly,
the anger and pain ebbed away as their eyes locked.
"hey love."
"i'm sorry about before."
"no need. old news, yeah?"
she smiled and reached out for his hand,
the overwhelming amounts of love pouring from his heart at once.
"yeah..."
she pressed her lips together and withdrew the hands he so stupidly declined,
"you look tired, lovey."
"yeah...been hard to get sleep these days,"
he explained with a sad smile.
she nodded and got up,
offering her seat.
"i'll get us a cuppa and when i come back, we can talk for hours or just sit in silence. whatever you'd like, okay?"
y/n nodded and kissed his cheek,
running a quick hand through his hair.
harry watched as she walked out of the room to retrieve their tea,
beginning to smile to himself and looked at his hands.
he remembered how he had never been much of a tea drinker until y/n.
she made it taste just right.
she made a lot of things just right.
he didn't like a lot of things until y/n came around.
harry realized the girl had drastically changed his life.
he sighed and leaned back in the chair,
wishing she'd hurry back."here you go,"
y/n smiled and handed him the cup,
watching as the steam curled in the air and disappeared.
"thank you."
"of course."
she placed herself on the floor and crossed her feet,
leaning between harry's legs.
he sipped the hot content slowly and carefully and looked down at her,
softly grinning at the way she sought his touch.
even through all the empty chairs in the room,
she took the floor to keep herself as close to harry as possible.
he know he'd never love another like he did his y/n.
"y/n...are you okay?"
"yes, are you?"
"mhm..."
she turned on her feet and set her mug on the table,
forcing harry's hands into hers.
"do you want to talk?"
"not really."
she nodded and smiled,
"will you come to me when you do?"
"yeah. you'll be the first person i run to."
she giggled and placed a hand to harry's cheek,
caressing it gently.
"i love you."
"yeah..yeah, i love you too,"
he smiled hard and looked down at his hands again,
curious as to how y/n had such an effect on him even after all their years of being together.
harry soon looked up and closed the space between them,
the tension releasing throughout his body.
his mind was calm.
all he knew was the excitement that bubbled deep within his gut.
he slowly pulled away and kept the same giddy smile spread across his lips.
she let out another quick giggle and sat in the chair across from harry and continued her work,
encouraging him to do his own.
he always applauded y/n for that quality of hers.
she never forced anything,
only encouraged.
y/n and harry sat in the quiet for a while,
the quills scratching against the parchment being the only noise in the room.
but neither of them minded,
their company was enough.
harry could never thank y/n enough,
he realized.
she was the only one who ever understood his way of thinking,
and never punished him for being that way.
he looked up from his potions work and let his eyes gloss over y/n's perfection.
the way her concentrated face made him chuckle lightly,
but he cherished the look in her eyes.
he reached for her hand and held it tightly,
knowing she was all that he needed in this world.
y/n looked up and smiled adoringly,
returning to her work.
harry never had to say a word to her.
and he loved that.
he could go hours with being silent and she'd still understand everything he would have to say through his gestures.
"y/n?"
"yes, my love?"
"what do you think about us leaving the country?"
she laughed loosely,
"yeah? where to?"
"well, wherever! we could go everywhere, actually. as long-as long as you're there with me."
"i can't wait."
he nodded and let out a laugh that he so desperately needed,
pressing the back of her hand to his lips.
life was hectic,
harry knew,
but y/n made it bearable.
and he was eternally grateful for his godsend of a girlfriend.
