y/n watched from the corner of her eye as cedric and the 'fleur girl',
as y/n called her,
conversed away without the slightest worry of y/n's presence.

y/n was rarely jealous.
there was a time or two a girl would flirt a little too hard with cedric right in front of her,
but he waved it away and always made sure they knew where his heart belonged.
and that's how it went.
cedric was well known,
popular,
and pursued often.
and y/n would stand awkwardly next to him,
having to remind the world she, too, existed.
she wondered how cedric had ever crossed her path.
or what it was that brought them together.
y/n thought she looked rather bland next to cedric.
with his wavy, golden perfect hair and bright eyes. and that smile.
that damn smile that wooed any one in his way.
yet through the sea of beautiful girls that stood before him,
he chose y/n.
though she was never y/n.
always 'cedric's girlfriend.'

the two were so deep into their useless conversation,
y/n was sure she could get up and leave without him ever noticing.
maybe i will.
she decided,
dragging herself to her feet and walking out of the great hall.
a part of her always knew this day would come.
cedric would find a girl better fitting for him.
an elegant girl who's obnoxiously perfect.
y/n found refuge in hannah abbott who was hunkered over her potions textbook.
"trouble in paradise?"
the girl asked with an understanding smile.
"i hate being so insecure. i feel horrible."
"fair play. but, you must know how much cedric adore you, right?"
"i know. that's what makes this whole thing...awful! it's like, i know how much we love each other. yet, i can't stop myself from feeling like this. boring old cedric diggory's girlfriend."
hannah suddenly went mute and turned her eyes to her book,
leaving y/n confused.
until cedric's hand laid itself upon her shoulder,
and in his low, husky voice,
he whispered:
"come. we need to talk."
y/n climbed to her feet rather nervously,
hoping she hadn't said too much to hurt him.
once they found themselves in the scare common room,
cedric turned around to find the trouble in her eyes.
he didn't have to look hard.
there in those beautiful, enticing eyes of hers laid clouds of worry, hurt, and a twinge of anger.
cedric felt his lips twitch at the sight.
y/n half expected cedric to begin yelling,
cursing and hexing her until his voice was hoarse.
but he smiled.
smiled at her with such compassion and ardor.
"would you like to talk to me about it, love?"
she shrugged.
"not really."
"humor me."
"i don't know, cedric."
she sighed and sat herself against the warmed bench.
cedric followed her lead and sat next to her,
pressing his lips together as she fumbled for the words.
"you're...entirely too good for me. i mean, don't you ever question why we're together?"
he shook his head with no hesitation,
"no, not at all. do you?"
"obviously,"
she murmured.
"it's easier to see you with fleur than it is to see you with me. and i think everyone agrees."
the way y/n spoke fleur's name as though it was acidic made cedric chuckle.
"but i don't love her."
"yeah, i know. you only love me."
cedric took y/n's hand and placed it to his chest where she could feel the faint beating of his heart.
"only for you,"
his undertone voice curled through the air.
she felt the heat rise to her cheeks at the thought of cedric's words from months prior.
my heart beats only for you, y/n. only for you.
"i don't know why you insist on me going after the other girls here. they're not you, y/n. they'll never be you. i love you because you're...you. everything about you from head to toe is nearly perfection. i can't even fathom how someone as simple as i was able to get my hands on such a delicate, ethereal being as you."
y/n was speechless.
cedric placing her on the same pedestal she held him on made her head spin.
they both felt too simple for one another.
when the pair was nothing short of angelic,
especially together.
they glowed when they were around one another,
their already beautiful smiles brightening;
his cheeks pink with excitement while hers glowed in  the feeling of their love.
it seemed every beautiful aspect of them only heightened when they were together.
and while it was true,
she was known at cedric's girlfriend,
he, too, was recognized as y/n's boyfriend.
it seemed unbelievable to y/n.
how could i have been this close minded!?
"i'm sorry. i'm so sorry,"
she finally spoke,
meeting his eyes that never hardened.
"so am i. for not reminding you as often as i should how stunning you really are."
she smiled and leaned her head against his shoulder,
where he laced their fingers as one.
"you're what i need in this life, y/n. i wouldn't want to hold anyone else's hand, kiss anyone else's lips, or love another. does that make sense?"
she nodded and traced his knuckles with the index finger of her free hand.
"it does. it makes perfect sense. i think that's what i get all loopy. because i don't want anyone other than you."
he placed his finger beneath her chin,
lifting her attention to his.
"there won't be anyone else, then. i'm yours now and forever. sound good?"
"sounds perfect."
he flashed that smile of his and let his lips brush hers for a moment,
sending her breathing to catch in her throat.
"promise,"
he whispered,
his minty breath fanning her cheekbones.
his thumb brushed her cupid's bow,
then pulled down her bottom lip gently.
"promise me it will be forever."
without a second thought,
she promised.
"now and forever."
he nodded and let the space between them close,
letting their lips come together as one.
butterflies made themselves at home in her ribcage,
while the fervor built in her core and pulsated her adrenaline.
cedric relished in the feeling of her cold, alluring lips against his and felt his body relax.
the passion between them had intensified immensely if possible.
and cedric knew her jealousy was laid to rest.
and so was his.
because finally,
after all this time,
they realized how perfect they were for one another.
how they were made for each other.
his lips were sculpted perfectly to kiss hers;
his hands were chiseled just large enough to fit hers;
and his heart was molded entirely to find her.
this was his sole reason for being.
here,
connected at his lips,
laid his forever.
and in knowing this,
cedric felt a surge of ecstasy pump through his veins.
a feeling that remained in his bloodstream from now
until forever.
