she closed the door quietly,
creeping up to the bedroom her and neville shared.
she cringed as the floor board squeaked beneath her weight,
shutting her eyes closed.
she opened one eye up and saw a peaceful neville enjoying his time away in his dreamworld.
y/n tip toed to grab her nightclothes and hurried to the bathroom.
she quickly did her night routine,
staring at herself in the mirror.
y/n's eyes had become dark underneath,
a desperate plea for more sleep.
she then crawled into the bed carefully and felt neville move beside her,
his eyes enshrouded with sleep.
"long night?"
he questioned.
"as always,"
the girl whispered and laid her head on his chest,
feeling his hands sleepily stroke her back.
"i'm sorry."
"don't be. i'm sorry. i promised i wouldn't come home so late."
"nothing to worry about, love. we're adults, it happens. get some sleep."
he kissed the top of her head,
and together they fell asleep.

y/n woke up the next morning to an empty bed.
she stretched out her limbs and got up,
searching around for neville.
she trailed down to the kitchen,
realizing the sun wasn't up yet.
"good morning my love,"
neville smiled as he wrapped an arm around her,
kissing her cheek.
"good morning,"
she returned and leaned her head against his chest.
"sleep well?"
"mhm. why are you up so early?"
y/n asked as she turned to face him.
he placed the mug to his lips before giving her a smile,
"i've got to get to the school early. the mandrakes are maturing. and, well, you know how that goes."
"ah,"
she giggled,
remembering their herbology classes.
those seemed like ages ago now.
"well the students are lucky to have such a great teacher like you."
neville shrugged his shoulders in a humble attempt,
making her snicker.
he handed her a mug full of the morning brew and kissed her forehead.
"i made your lunch..again. take this time, will you?"
he asked as he walked past her,
picking up his bag for school.
"yes! i'm sorry. i keep forgetting them,"
she sighed.
"i know, i'm not mad. just your little old husband, slaving away in the early morning to make you food that goes to waste,"
he sighed dramatically.
she rolled her eyes and laughed,
pulling him down to kiss him before he set off.
"i'll remember today. have a good day, my love."
y/n watched as he set off through the front door,
sipping the hot liquid slowly.
she smiled to herself and closed the door,
thanking the universe for blessing her with someone so great.
she looked into the bag neville packed with her lunch,
realizing it was all her favorites.
she unfolded the note within,
"have a good day my love.
i hope you enjoy the lunch i've made,
yet again.
but not to worry, i'm just as guilty as you are in this relationship.
i steal the glimpse of light in your eyes,
the brightness of your laughter,
and the smoothness of your skin everyday and tuck them into the corners of our world.
and one shouldn't steal.
but can you blame me?
i hope you'll forgive me for loving every inch of you and stealing these images that i wish to keep forever.
forever yours.

she held the note close to her chest,
holding back the tears.
she was beginning to hate her job,
despite working as hard as she did to get it,
for keeping them apart for so long.
she missed him with every fiber of her being.

"you're home early,"
neville smiled as y/n walked through the front door.
"surprise,"
she spoke and pressed a kiss to his cheek.
"how was work?"
he asked,
beginning to hover over the stove for their dinner.
"pretty good! you?"
"went smoother than i expected to."
"that's good."
"yeah. did you eat the lunch i prepared?"
"i did! and it was delicious,"
she nodded before walking behind the significantly taller man,
wrapping her arms around his torso and laying her head on his back.
"thank you for the note. made me feel good."
"that's my job, isn't it?"
he chuckled before turning around to look down at her.
he took her face in his hands and admired everything about her.
"i'm sorry i haven't been home like i should."
"don't worry about it. i'm glad you had a good day. i can hardly stand it when your days are anything less."
"i love you,"
she smiled,
her heart weighing down with love.
"i love you too."
he closed the space between them,
their kiss being as loving and vehement as it had been from the very first time.
the smoke began to rise from behind neville's shoulder,
making her pull back swiftly.
"what?"
he questioned,
eyebrows knitted together.
"the food!"
she pointed,
making him turn around and rush to try and salvage their dinner.
their laughs bounced off the walls around them,
y/n's eyes lining with tears from laughing as hard as she did.
"it-it looks fine, yeah?"
neville asked as she looked at the pan.
she quickly shook her head,
"oh god no,"
they laughed together once more as he emptied it out.
he placed it in the sink,
turning to y/n and wrapping his arms around her.
she was buried in his chest and grinned largely as his cologne cascaded into her lungs.
"i'll order us something,"
he spoke.
y/n nodded and trailed her fingertips down his back softly,
enjoying this moment with him.
she looked up at him,
placing her chin in the middle of his chest.
she cherished the feelings neville sent running through her body as their eyes laid interlocked.
she didn't think it was possible to love someone this much.
"but you're paying. you distracted me and burnt our dinner,"
neville smiled his million dollar smile,
pecking her lips.
she felt her body rush with nerves,
not having a care in the world right now.
"if you say so."
