"boo,"
the boy mumbled and placed his hands at her shoulders,
making her jump.
"cedric!"
she giggled,
watching him take his seat next to her.
"what are we studying for? let me guess, potions?"
cedric smiled as his eyes trailed the page,
"play nice,"
y/n smiled as she tried to retain the information,
knowing none of it would stick with cedric around.
"you alright?"
she questioned,
taking her eyes off the page and into his own.
"more than alright, you?"
"i'm fine, lovely. excited for the quidditch match today?"
"as always. i assume i'll be meeting you beforehand?"
"you know it,"
y/n winked and gave him a kiss on the cheek,
the two indulging in a study session.
"now what kind of charm is the dancing feet jinx?"
cedric questioned y/n,
watching her ponder.
"tarantallegra...?"
"final answer?"
"yes... no! wait, yes!"
y/n giggled,
pulling on her bottom lip.
"you're right, love. it is tarantallegra."
"oh! what a genius, i am!"
"what a genius you are,"
cedric agreed,
pressing his lips against hers quickly enough to not get in trouble for,
but long enough to let her feel his love.
the study session continued for a bit longer before his watched beeped,
"i've got to go. but i'll meet you by the common room!"
***
as promised,
the two met and head to the quidditch match.
cedric couldn't have asked for a more perfect girlfriend.
he watched her adoringly as she cheered, whooped, and hollered for her house.
"you're adorable, did you know that?"
"ohhh diggory, how flattering. upset you're losing, are we?"
she giggled that giggle of hers which he loved,
before placing a kiss on his cheek.
there was something about y/n he couldn't get enough of.
she was his peace, his fun, his best friend and more
all in one.
he was in love,
to say the least.
once the match was over,
y/n skipped the halls and radiated happiness.
"we won!"
she cheered with her housemates repeatedly,
swinging her and cedric's connected hands.
he laughed along with her,
admiring how beautiful she looked all decked out in the house colors she proudly wore.
his favorite thing about her was how she took pride in things she loved.
no matter how ridiculous or small it seemed,
she was sure to let it be known she was proud of it.
"well, can't say i'm surprised you all won."
"tell me about it! got the finest keepers hogwarts has ever seen my darling boy,"
she laughed and wrapped her arms around his torso,
calming down some as his scent traveled.
she took in a deep breath and was glad to have a spare moment of peace with him,
their bodies rocking in the dimly lit corridor.
"you look beautiful, y/n."
"look at you, filled with compliments to give out today, huh?"
y/n smiled as she lifted her chin and placed it in the middle of his chest,
her eyes making him weak.
"got to say what's on my mind."
"mhm, tell me more. i love it."
together,
they laughed and stood together lovingly,
enjoying their time together.
"y/l, diggory. id expect nothing less than you two lovebirds wondering about the corridors at this hour. it's repulsing, truly. back to your common rooms or i'll be forced to take away house points,"
snape reprimanded from afar,
making y/n jump out of cedrics embrace.
"i'll walk you back,"
cedric whispered softly as they walked past snape,
feeling his gaze in the back of their heads.
"feel bad for the man. such anger is never good for the soul."
y/n sighed,
cedric backing her up.
"i agree."
"you're good for my soul though,"
y/n spoke suddenly,
drawing a smile onto cedrics face.
"as you are for mine, love."
she spun on her feet as they reached the common room,
her eyes looking left and right to make sure nobody was around.
"how much do you love me?"
"a lot. why?"
cedric asked,
narrowing his eyebrows.
he knew something more was coming.
"can you meet me here tonight? at twelve?"
"...for?"
he asked,
dragging the last syllable.
"theres something i want to show you. although i'm not sure it's completely allowed."
"y/n!"
"please! it'll be five minutes max."
he hesitated,
looking around before nodding.
"alright, i'll be here."
he watched her jump around in excitement before placing a kiss on his lips.
he had to admit,
he was curious to see what y/n had to show him.
but even then,
he couldn't tell y/n no.
***
"ready?"
y/n whispered softly,
taking cedrics hand into hers.
"i suppose."
"we've got to steer clear of filch and mrs norris."
he nodded his head in understanding,
making way to wherever y/n wanted to go.
the two had to escape filch a time or two,
barely making it out in time.
but they arrived.
"look!"
she cheered,
closing the door ever so gently behind them.
cedric stepped in and saw a mirror.
"what's this?"
"just look."
she stood off the side and watched his reflection,
waiting for him to explain.
"huh..."
"what do you see?"
he stared at an older y/n and cedric,
children that looked dashingly like his girlfriend running around their feet.
she placed a hand on his shoulder,
the gentle air chilling his skin.
there on her finger laid a ring,
the light making it dance.
"well?"
she questioned,
snapping him out of his daydream.
"what did you see?"
he asked her,
curious to see if there's matched.
"i saw my father,"
she answered.
it made sense to him,
y/n hardly knew her father.
and the times they had talked never ended well,
but the girl longed for his approval.
"and you?"
she asked for the hundredth time.
he smiled to himself,
wrapping an arm around her.
"nothing."
"oh cedric! you have to tell me!"
"maybe one day,"
he smiled and held her face gently in his hands,
always careful with her.
"i love you,"
he spoke for the first time,
watching the fire in y/n's eyes brighten.
there was no doubt in either one of their minds that this was right.
"i love you too, diggory."
"well well well. what do we have here, eh? a couple kids out of bed, walking the corridors after hours."
filch spoke,
making them jump.
"oh!"
y/n exclaimed,
her eyes wide.
"filch, i think you ought to take a look in this mirror."
cedric suggested,
moving their bodies out of the way to let him examine it.
filch raised his head,
his jaw dropping while his reflection showed him and whatever it was.
but he was in love,
which gave the two enough time to dart out of there.
once they arrived outside the common room,
he smiled and ruffled his hands through y/n's hair.
"thank you for coming with me."
"of course. when have i ever passed up an after hour adventure with y/n l/n?"
"stick around and there's plenty of more to come,"
y/n smirked,
running her hands down his arm.
"i saw us in the mirror. you and i with a couple kids running around us."
"did you really?"
"yeah."
her eyes began to tear,
making him chuckle.
"why are you crying, my love?"
"because.. you're too good,"
she admitted,
laying her head on his chest.
she sniffled at the sound of his heart that beat for her,
feeling him place a kiss on the top of her head.
"you must be tired."
"only a little,"
she laughed and stood on her tippy toes to kiss his soft lips.
"get to bed then."
"are you upset that i didn't see us in the mirror of erised?"
"not at all!"
"promise?"
"i promise. now, get to bed before filch comes running around."
they joined each other in a laugh before she kissed his lips again,
whispering goodnight.
"oh! and, i love you,"
she smiled sheepishly as she stepped inside the room,
knowing she'd never get tired of saying it.
"i love you too, goodnight my love."
he returned,
knowing he'd never get tired of hearing it.
the painting to the room closed,
leaving cedric with his thoughts.
the mirror may have been just a desire of his,
but he knew it was soon to become reality for them.
one day.
