Chapter 49

September 4, 1:20pm

Headmaster Nathan Russel

I  turned to face the two of them, and the worried look plastered on Clinton's face is very evident.

"How's the selection?" I asked the both of them as I clasped my fingers above my table.

Clayton quickly replied. "It was a success, Headmaster.

"Good. Give me the list of the students who will be participating. I want to see personally how well they will be doing." I said dismissively.

I raised my gaze at him, at tila nakikipagsukatan siya ng tingin sa akin. "You look like you have a lot to say, Clinton." He stood straight and slowly nodded at me.

"Forgive my insolence, Headmaster." Panimula niya kasabay ng bahagyang pagyuko. "I didn't want to question you, but I think it's not a coincidence that Lexine was chosen to be the Team Leader of Astron. I just thought that it's too much for her. After all the Shadow Domain incident..."

"What are you trying to imply?" I raised a brow at him, and threw Clayton a glance. He's just standing there and listening at us.

No, they're twins. They knew each other's way of thinking.

So, why's Clayton not saying anything?

"That you might've interfered with the automatic leader selection." This time, his voice is full with authority. But I didn't budge with his sudden animosity. I rested my chin in my intertwined fingers above the mahogany table and looked directly a him.

"That's right." I said, impassively. "I did."

"I think... it's too much for them." Napalunok pa siya habang nagsasalita. "First, the Shadow Domain and then this. If possible, we would like to know the reasons behind all this. They may be the chosen Origins, but they're still our students. It's our responsibility to keep them safe."

"I agree." Clayton nodded. "I may not look like care, but I still get worried for my students."

I was about to tell them, when we heard a knock on the door. I think it's the mentors. I sighed.

"Come in." The door flew open and revealed the expected visitors... and unexpected students. I frowned when I saw them walking straight in to my desk. The House Heads automatically stood beside me, Clinton on my right and Clayton on my left.

What are these guys doing here again?

Lexine Gonzales
