Sophia woke up the next morning and looked to her side to see the bed was empty. The room was empty. She got out of bed and felt her foot touch something. She jumped at the sudden sensation but sighed in relief when she saw it was just a bag. She opened the bag and saw lots of different clothing items with tags on them. There were also some books, make up, toiletries. Everything a woman would need. She figured Klaus must've gotten all of that for her. She would've thanked him if he was with her.

She picked out an outfit and went to the bathroom where she showered and brushed her teeth. She then got dressed for the day, put on some light make up and walked out of the bathroom where she saw Klaus standing on the balcony of their room. Klaus had heard the bathroom door opening and turned around, seeing Sophia walk out, looking quite beautiful. He didn't even realise she was now stood in front of him.

"Klaus?" She called out, making him pull out of his trance and look at her. "Thanks...for the clothes and stuff."

"Well, you can't be on the road with no belongings, can you?" Klaus said. "Come on, we need to get you breakfast and then we have a long drive."

The three were now back in the car and were driving to the next city where Klaus was hoping he would find a pack. Klaus was driving, Sophia was in the passenger seat and Stefan was at the back. He had no interest sitting next to Klaus. Klaus glanced over at Sophia who was engrossed in one of the books he had gotten her. He smiled slightly. They would be on the road for a while and he knew she would eventually get bored. It's not like she had a phone to keep her entertained, not that she would even know how to use one. He decided getting her books would be the next best thing. It worked. What he didn't know was that Sophia loved reading. Whenever she could, she would sneak off somewhere with a good book. Her father had always hated her reading, so much that he burned her entire bookshelf. He believed women didn't deserve the privilege of owning books and having an education. However, her brothers would buy her new ones and she would keep them hidden from her father. Her brothers would teach her new things so she wasn't illiterate or anything. They let her use all of their text books they bought for school and would teach their sister all the things their father wouldn't allow.

"Klaus, pull over somewhere. I need to use the bathroom." Stefan said.

"I didn't know vampires still needed to pee." Sophia said, now looking up from her book.

"Unfortunately we do." Klaus said.

Klaus pulled over at a gas station and the three of them got out of the car. Stefan used his vampire speed to go to the bathroom. He must've really been desperate. Klaus looked at Sophia who was looking around at where they were. They didn't exactly have gas stations back in the 1860's so all this was very new to her and she found it rather fascinating. Klaus pulled a few dollars out of his pocket and gave it to her.

"Why don't you go and buy some snacks for yourself? I need to feed." Klaus said. Sophia nodded and walked into the gas station. There were rows of chips and candies and juices and much more. She looked at the cashier who gave her a warm smile. She smiled back and decided to go to the candy section. She picked up some candies that looked appetising along with a packet of chips and a soda bottle. She paid for everything and was about the leave when she felt herself being pulled away.

She found herself pressed against the wall and in front of her, a tall and rather old looking man, definitely in his fortys, was towering over her, a sick smirk plastered on his face. "Let me go."

Sophia tried to escape the man's grip but he was very strong. She didn't know how she would defend herself against this man. In the 1850's and 60's, women were never taught self defence. They were taught to always rely and depend on a man to protect them. This man clearly wasn't here to protect her. The man tried to kiss her so she did the only thing she could think of. She kicked the man where the sun doesn't shine. The man groaned in pain as he fell to the floor, holding onto his crotch. Sophia quickly made a run for it, running outside where she saw the car. She saw Klaus standing nearby, feeding on a woman. Klaus noticed her running and stop feeding. He then noticed a man come out of the gas station, seemingly going after Sophia. Klaus growled and used his vampire speed to rush over to the man, biting into his neck and draining him dry. Once he was done, he tossed the man's body to the side and wiped his mouth. He turned around and saw Sophia breathing heavily as she stood by the car.

"Are you alright, Love?" Klaus asked. "What happened?"

"He...he tried to kiss me and I kicked him and I..I tried to get away and-" She said as tears filled her eyes. She really thought this man could've seriously injured her. At this point, she wasn't thinking and went over to Klaus before hugging him tight as tears spilled from her eyes. Klaus was rather surprised by her action. He had never had a girl willingly hug him like this before. He just figured Sophia had just gone through a traumatic experience and she just needed some comfort. He reluctantly wrapped his arms around her, being careful not to be too tight. He was scared he'd crush this small, delicate woman. He ran his fingers through her dark brown hair as she cried in his chest. He could feel his heart rate increase slightly and this told him he needed to stop. He quickly pulled away from her and looked at her tear stained face. He couldn't be too soft with her. He still had to show that he was in charge and he was just using her. He had no interest in her. She was simply here to punish Damon, that's all.

"Go and sit in the car whilst I get Stefan." Klaus told her, his tone deepening slightly. Sophia nodded and sat in the car, leaning her head against the window.
