after the game had ended, y/n was sat with draco in her families tent. she was wearing the jumper he had given her the year before while she traced soft patterns on his hand. her parents were sat in the kitchen area, drinking warm cups of tea.

before long, loud noises could be heard from outside the tent. y/n watched as her father stood up and ventured outside to see what was going on. he swiftly ran back into the tent, "gather your things. quickly! we need to leave, now!"

y/n looked at her dads exasperated face, "what's going on?" she asked confused.

"just grab your things, y/n, please!"

y/n turned towards draco who looked just as confused as her. she gathered her bag and walked out of the tent with everyone. people could be seen running in many different directions, frightened looks on their faces.

"get out, it's the death eaters!" someone screamed.

y/n's eyes grew wide as she turned around to make sure everyone was still behind her. draco grabbed her hand tightly as the two let her parents lead the way to safety.

tents had begun to light on fire as people with masks walked through the crowd. y/n ran quickly, pulling her boyfriend along with her.

"draco, what's going on?" she called out to him, looking at him with nervous eyes.

he shook his head, "i don't know, but we need to get out of here."

it was terribly hard to keep up with her parents, people from behind came hurdling out like large packs of cattle. she held on to draco's hand tightly, scared that if she were to let go she would lose him in the crowd of people. she had never ran as fast as she was now.

"y/n!" draco yelled as he began to drop her hand, "follow your parents! i need to go find my father."

"are you insane?" she said, "you can't go back, you could be hurt!"

"i'll be okay, go on! i'll find you as soon as i can." she watched as he turned around, running to go find his father.

y/n could only watch with sad eyes, still following her mum and dad back to their portkey. they ran until the boot came into view, but y/n stopped before she touched it.

"what are you doing?" y/m/n said as she looked at her daughter, "it's not safe here. we need to go."

"i can't leave draco!" and before she knew what she was doing, she was running in the same direction they had just came from. she ran quickly, dodging the small amount of people that were still in the area. she watched as the tents crumbled down into ash, being careful to not stumble on anything on the grassy ground.

"draco!" she yelled over and over again, scanning the large area with her eyes. a skull appeared in the sky and a long snake came from its mouth. she looked up in fear, taking a few steps backwards.

"y/n!" a voice yelled and she turned around quickly to be met with draco. "why aren't you with your parents?"

he ran to her, taking her into his arms. she looked up over his shoulder and saw lucius, dressed in the same attire as the masked people she had seen not too long ago. he looked at her with evil in his eyes and she returned her attention back to the boy in front of her, "i wasn't going to leave unless i knew that you were okay."

"i'm okay, now you need to go. i'm serious, it's not safe here. go, now." she was startled by the sternness of his voice, but she knew he meant well.

she turned to see her parents running towards them, making sure they're daughter wasn't hurt. they gave draco a longing look before swiftly pulling the girl away.

the train made its way to hogwarts rapidly and y/n stared out of the window, still thinking about the events that had taken place days before. draco, marley and pansy tried to get her attention many times, but she paid no mind to any of them. she wasn't really in the mood to socialize. after a while they had realized this, and draco just simply rested his hand on her thigh.

after several minutes, the large castle came into view. the train stopped and all of the students exited to make their way to the carriages.

"i'm sorry." draco spoke, breaking the uncomfortable silence. y/n looked up at him.

"for?" she asked.

"what happened at the world cup."

"it wasn't your fault, draco." she said gently, "but if you don't mind i really don't wish to talk about it."

he nodded his head and grabbed her hand. he noticed his ring was still sat on her finger and he smiled to himself. the carriages stopped and the fourth years made their way to the great hall. per usual, they sat at the slytherin table with their friends.

"well, now we're all settled in and sorted, i'd like to make an announcement. this castle will not only be your home this year but home to some very special guests as well. you see, hogwarts has been chosen to host a legendary event: the triwizard tournament!"

y/n's head looked up quickly, her mood changing. now, instead of being under the weather, she was ecstatic.

"for those of you who don't know, the triwizard tournament brings together three schools for a series of magical contests. from each school, a single student is selected to compete. now let me be clear, if chosen, you stand alone. and trust me when i say these contests are not for the faint hearted." dumbledore said wearily, "for now, please join me in welcoming the lovely ladies of the beauxbatons academy of magic and their headmistress, madame maxime!"

the doors swung open and several girls in blue walked in confidently. they swayed their arms backwards and gave large smiles as they walked. draco watched them with a smirk and y/n nudged him hardly, giving him a glare. he chuckled at her in response. the entrance annoyed y/n as she watched essentially every boy in the room swoon over them, she thought it was a bit over the top. whistles and claps could be heard from all around and the girl could only roll her eyes.

dumbledore stood at the front, putting his arms up to silence the students, "and now our friends from the north. please greet the proud sons of durmstrang and their high master, igor karkaroff!"

it was then the girls turn to stare in awe, as tall muscular males strolled in, banging batons on the ground. y/n stared at each and every one before turning to the doors to see one particular boy walk in, "oh my god, it's krum!"

draco's chest heaved up in anger, as he already knew that y/n fancied viktor. the boy noticed her eyes and he gave her a slight smile. the blonde boy next to her was quick to wrap his arm around her, showing krum that she was off limits.

the feast was as spectacular as it is every year, and y/n noticed that draco was more touchy with her than usual. she knew it was because foreign male students had walked in and he wanted to show them that she was his.

"your attention, please!" dumbledore spoke as he stepped to the front once again, "i'd like to say a few words. eternal glory. that is what awaits the student who wins the triwizard tournament. but to do this, that student must survive three tasks. three extremely dangerous tasks. for this reason, the ministry has seen fit to impose a new rule."

dumbledore introduced mr. bartemius crouch, the head of the department of international magical cooperation. crouch stood before the students, "after due consideration, the ministry has concluded that, for their own safety, no student under the age of 17 shall be allowed to put forth their name for the triwizard tournament."

students from all around were quick to protest and y/n heard draco scoff next to her, "what a load of rubbish."

"thinking of joining, were you?" y/n asked playfully, knowing her boyfriend was only 15 and wouldn't be able to compete. he just glared at her, not enjoying the sarcasm that came from her mouth.

dumbledore silenced the room and soon the goblet of fire could be seen, bright blue flames coming from the top of it. he then explained that to enter you must write your name on a piece of parchment and throw it into the fire.

"as from this moment, the triwizard tournament has begun!"
